Seeing the trophy lifted by Wes Morgan was a start to the realisation that our city is home to the best club in the best league in the world but it's like matching all the lottery numbers but still needing the authorities to confirm you're the winning ticket. 

I'm sure that will come soon but for now, our city is still soaking it in.

We are only in the early stages of the County Championship season but head coach of Lancashire, Ashley Giles, says he's been impressed with his side's start - and has praised bowler James Anderson and all-rounder Luke Procter.

Some colourful answers as always from Louis van Gaal when he is asked whether it will be more difficult for United to attract top quality players if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

"If. You are speaking always if. I am always answering if questions. Last year we were also in that situation and at the end we qualified. Then there were still players I wanted that we didn't purchase." 

When he is pressed on who those players were, Van Gaal adds: "I cannot discuss that with you. It is a question for the board and the manager."

Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been discussing his future at the club ahead of West Brom's final home game of the season against Liverpool on Sunday - unsurprisingly he's a fan of straight-talking people, including chairman Jeremy Peace.

"The chairman and I will get together next week and we will have a good chat. We will talk about things," he said. "It is an honour to manage this great football club and there are things that I would like to improve.

"I get on very well with the chairman. He has been very straight and very honest. I prefer to deal with people like that."

"I am always evaluating. I am always adapting to the situation and what we stand for. It is always the same. You have to evaluate yourself, your staff and players.
