Only slightly mind you - Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill says Friday's game with the Netherlands will be the last chance for most of his squad to stake their Euro 2016 claims.

That's even though O'Neill won't be announcing his squad until after Tuesday's friendly against Belarus.

"I will have told quite a number of players that they will be going to France this weekend," O'Neill said.

Midfielders Harry Arter, Eunan O'Kane and Darron Gibson are among those who may be handed starts against the Dutch - with O'Neill likely to select a mixture of regulars and fringe players.

Delph out of Euro 2016?published at 08:17

    Football

The other big news in football world this morning? Friday's international friendlies and the build-up to Euro 2016.

First off, Fabian Delph is unlikely to make England's final 23-man squad because of a groin strain.

The Manchester City midfielder did not travel with the squad to the North East for Friday's friendly against Australia and has been placed on the standby list.

"Delph is not with us," manager Roy Hodgson said at Thursday's news conference. "He's stayed in Manchester. That means he probably won't be in the 23."
