Ball boosts England hopespublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 2 May 2016

    Cricket

What a morning for Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball! He snared Yorkshire's Adam Lyth first ball and now he's followed that up with the wickets of Gary Ballance and Joe Root in successive deliveries.

There are plenty of England selectors in attendance at Trent Bridge - has Ball done enough to put himself in the frame for the Test squad to play Sri Lanka?

League One ups and downspublished at 11:25

    Football

There's plenty to play for on Monday in League One.

Wigan Athletic are of course already heading to the Championship, but Burton Albion will also be promoted without kicking a ball today if Walsall fail to beat Fleetwood.

However, a Fleetwood win would relegate neighbours Blackpool, and Doncaster also face the drop if the Cod Army manage to avoid defeat. Got it?

Race for the top flightpublished at 11:15

    Championship

Burnley will be promoted to the Premier League if they beat QPR on Monday and Brighton fail to win against Derby.

That is because Middlesbrough and Brighton play each other on the final day of the season, and therefore can’t both overtake Sean Dyche's side.

However, if Burnley don’t win or if Brighton grab three points, it will all go to the final day – when the only other issue to be decided will be the finishing order of the teams in fourth, fifth and sixth to determine who plays who in the play-offs.

    Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City

From encouraging his players to "get horny" to singing "When I'm 64" to theatrically falling over on the touchline, it's never dull with Louis van Gaal.

This time, however, he may just have topped the lot. During yesterday's post-match interview, he offered to pull BBC Sport interviewer Manish Bhasin's hair and likened Robert Huth's antics to a sex act.

United midfielder Marouane Fellaini appeared to elbow Huth after the Foxes defender pulled his hair.

Ranieri may miss Tottenham gamepublished at 10:40

    Chelsea v Tottenham (20:00 BST)

Leicester City's draw at Old Trafford on Sunday means anything but a win for Tottenham against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight will guarantee Claudio Ranieri's side the title.

But the Italian admits he might miss the moment the Foxes clinch their first ever top-flight crown - because he is flying home to take his mum out for lunch.

"My mother is 96 years old and I would like to have a lunch with her. I will be the last man in England to know," said Ranieri, potential Premier League-winning manager and model son.
