Mauricio Pochettino and Diego Simeone are among the managers Argentina want to talk to about the national team coach vacancy following last month's shock resignation of Gerardo Martino.

Armando Perez, head of an Argentine FA (AFA) Regularisation Committee, also plans to talk to Lionel Messi with a view to asking the team's former captain to reverse his decision to quit international soccer.

Perez plans to fly to Europe next month because he wants to hear personally from Atletico Madrid's Simeone and former Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli, now at Sevilla, their views on the national team.

Both have said their ambition is to coach Argentina and would be popular choices. Perez will talk to Pochettino from Spain about his availability, says Argentine paper La Nacion. , external

US Open champion Dustin Johnson holds a joint lead in the Canadian Open after Thursday's first round, where he carded seven birdies and eagled the final hole to post a round of 66.

The world number two recovered from a double bogey at the 14th to roll in a 12-foot eagle putt at sun-baked Glen Abbey Golf Club outside Toronto.

Fellow American Luke List, ranked 309th in the world, also reached six under, picking up a stroke at each par five.

Defending champion and world number one Jason Day also had an eagle in his 69.
