  4. 'Pogba will adapt to Mourinho system'published at 13:35 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder and MOTD pundit

Along with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored the winner at Wembley on Sunday, Paul Pogba is another superstar of the type you expect to find in the Manchester United team.

That has not always been the case in the past couple of seasons but, with their summer signings and with Jose Mourinho in charge, United will soon have their old fear factor back.

He is overpriced but, with the way the market is, I completely understand why he will cost that much and I know why Mourinho wants him.

For starters he has got more legs than United have got in midfield.

Pogba is definitely a Mourinho player too, and he will adapt to fit his system. You can tell from the role he plays for Juve and what he does for France that he is very adaptable.

  5. How good is Pogba?published at 13:29 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Well he seems fairly consistent with his goal tally in Serie A (seven in 2013-14 and eight in each of the last two seasons) since becoming a first-team staple.

However, last season he really upped his assists game, with 12. He had only chipped in with three the previous year.

The 2011-12 stats are his three substitute appearances for Manchester United before his £1.5m exit.

  8. 'You can be kidded by Pogba'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Former Newcastle manager Graeme Souness on Sky Sports, speaking about Paul Pogba: “It is too much money. I’m yet to be convinced.

"I think you can be kidded by him because when he moves he’s like a Rolls Royce, but I’ve never seen him get hold of a game and dominate.

"I don’t see him changing that many games. It’s not like they’ve bought a Suarez who will get you 50 goals a season.”

  9. 'Premier League fighting back'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Sky Sports were discussing the Paul Pogba (impending) deal earlier on today.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville: “It was important United made a statement. They’ve spent quite a lot of money these last few years without getting anywhere - too many static players.

“It is a big fee, but the Premier League was losing players left, right and centre to Spain and couldn’t entice the best players either.

"We’ve got some of the top managers in the world here, it is important the best players follow – let’s hope this is the start of the Premier League’s fightback against La Liga.”

Not that he's bitter about his brief spell as Valencia boss...

  13. But could Jese return to Real?published at 12:52 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Last week, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the clubs were in talks, and added that Jese could return to Real next summer.

Although neither club have confirmed a clause today, Real Madrid sometimes put buy-back deals in a contract when they sell players, enabling to purchase them back for a set fee.

Striker Alvaro Morata returned to Real from Juventus under such a clause this summer, which dropped Jese down the list of Madrid forwards.

"I hope that everything goes well for him and that he returns to Real Madrid, which is his home," Zidane said last week.

"Perhaps it will be a year and he then comes back."

  14. PSG sign Real's Jesepublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Paris St-Germain have signed Real Madrid forward Jese on a five-year contract.

No word yet on the fee for the 23-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 62 La Liga matches.

"I am delighted to join Paris St-Germain, who have become one of Europe’s most competitive clubs," he said.

"Like Paris St-Germain, I have big ambitions for the coming seasons and it will be a great pleasure to work under the direction of Unai Emery, who has developed an excellent reputation in Spain, and across Europe, for his quality as a coach.

"I can’t wait to begin this next challenge of my career."

  15. Rangel extends Swansea staypublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 8 August 2016

Long-serving Swansea defender Angel Rangel has signed a one-year contract extension, committing him to the club until 2018.

The 33-year-old Spaniard has been with the club since 2007, making 346 appearances.

"This is my home now. This contract will take me to 11 years here and I am so pleased with that," he said.

"I am 33 now, but I still feel fresh. That's one of the main reasons why I am still signing contracts."
