  2. Liverpool to play away cup gamepublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

Liverpool will play their EFL Cup second-round match away from home, regardless of the draw.

The Reds are expanding the Main Stand at Anfield and do not play a home game until 10 September against Leicester.

They have two away games - at Arsenal and Tottenham - and have reversed the fixtures with Burnley before then.

An EFL spokesman said: "The board has considered a request from the club and felt that that due to the unique circumstances they face at this particular time, it was appropriate to agree to the reversal.

“Compensation will be paid by Liverpool to the opposing club should they be drawn at home, to be determined by the EFL board.”

New Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has given an "exclusive" interview to the club's TV station.

    This is a genuine excerpt.

We’ve missed you here on MUTV – we enjoyed having you here the first time. How did your experiences of being on MUTV regularly set you up?

"I started on MUTV. My first interview was here at United. So now I come back and feel like I’m doing my old interview – I’m just taller, bigger, older. And I’m just enjoying it."

  9. Gabriel out for up to two monthspublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with an ankle sprain.

The Brazil defender suffered the injury in the closing minutes of Sunday's win against Manchester City in Arsenal's final pre-season game.

It is not quite as bad as the player initially feared, but with Per Mertesacker already out for five months and Laurent Koscielny only returning to training yesterday, manager Arsene Wenger is short of defensive experience for his side's opening game against Liverpool on Sunday.

With new signing Rob Holding and fellow youngsters Callum Chambers and Krystian Bielik the only other centre-back options explored in pre-season, Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Valencia and Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi.

We want to know which Premier League club have had the best transfer window...

Aman: Easily Man Utd. The best players in Ligue 1, Serie A & Bundesliga along with a talented young defender for less than £150m.

Muhammad Owais Khan: I'd say City. They got the best of young talents in Stones, Sane and Jesus with a gem in Gundogan at that price. But Pogba...

Lim Junior: Obviously Man Utd. Thats some serious recruitment in Zlatan, Mkhitarian, Pogba, Bailly and Mourinho himself.

  11. 'Swansea agree fee for Atletico striker'published at 12:31 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

Swansea have agreed a club-record fee with Atletico Madrid to sign 23-year-old striker Borja Baston, Press Association Sport understands.

They have some money in the back after selling Andre Ayew to West Ham for £20.5m yesterday.

  12. 'Embarrassment at Stones leak'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

There is undoubtedly an element of embarrassment at how John Stones' move to Manchester City leaked out, via the squad they submitted to Uefa for next week’s Champions League play-off encounter with Steaua Bucharest.

That will quickly be forgotten if Stones delivers the kind of measured performances Pep Guardiola wants.

City’s new boss wants the ball to be passed quickly out of defence to speed up the process of creating chances for strikers.

Stones can do that. For City – and England’s – sake, it is hoped working with Guardiola will bring a focus that appeared lacking for the 22-year-old at Everton last season.

  13. Williams set to replace Stones at Goodison?published at 12:17 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

Several media outlets claim that Everton are set to spend £12m of their John Stones windfall on Swansea captain Ashley Williams, 31.

Is Stones really worth nearly £50m?

Everton released a short statement, without mentions of 'best of luck in the future' or 'thanks for all his hard work at the club'.

It reads: "John Stones has joined Manchester City for a record transfer fee.

"Stones joined Everton from Barnsley on transfer deadline day in January 2013 for £3m.

"His Blues debut came in a League Cup win over Stevenage seven months later and, in total, he made 95 appearances for the club, scoring one Premier League goal."
