    Former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi won a Paralympic gold medal on the eve of the 15-year anniversary of when he lost his legs in a motorsport crash.

    The 49-year-old hand-cyclist, who won two gold medals at London 2012, finished first in the H5 road time trial in Rio on Wednesday.

    The Italian needed to have both legs amputated after crashing in the American Memorial 500 Cart in 2001.

    "I feel very lucky, I feel my life is a never-ending privilege," Zanardi said.

    He goes for his fourth gold today in the men's H5 road race later today.

    Somerset have signed former England wicketkeeper Steven Davies on a three-year contract. 

    Davies' departure from Surrey at the end of this season was announced on Wednesday.

    The 30-year-old last played for his country five years ago, has 13 limited-overs caps to his name and has scored more than 10,000 first-class runs.

    Legia Warsaw have apologised for offensive chanting by their fans and will punish those guilty of violence after crowd trouble marred their 6-0 home defeat by Borussia Dortmund.

    Fans reportedly clashed, external with security during the Champions League match and tried to break into the away section.

    Legia denied, external racist chanting from home fans but apologised to those offended.

    Uefa is awaiting reports from the game which will then be considered by the disciplinary department.
