    Manchester City are reportedly planning to use the January transfer window to strengthen their midfield.

    Pep Guardiola is reportedly open to bringing in a midfielder on loan as a short-term solution until the summer, according to the Daily Mail., external

    The decision was brought about by Ilkay Gundogan's knee injury, which will rule him out for a lengthy period of time.

    Steven N'Zonzi, who currently plays for Sevilla, is one name linked with Man City.

    Rugby commentator Ian Robertson believes Stuart Lancaster would be a "very, very good choice" to replace Richard Cockerill at Leicester Tigers.

    Leicester Tigers sacked Richard Cockerill after nearly eight years in charge at the Premiership club.

    The 46-year-old has been on the Premiership club's coaching staff since 2004, took over as head coach in 2009 and became director of rugby in 2010.  

    Head coach Aaron Mauger will take over the side on an interim basis after Cockerill's departure.

    West Ham manager Slaven Bilic was significantly unimpressed with Mike Dean's decision to send off Sofiane Feghouli against Manchester United.

    Feghouli was sent off for a tackle on Phil Jones - Bilic said the defender "made a meal" of the challenge - to leave the Hammers with ten men for 75 minutes.

    Paris Saint-Germain have signed Wolfsburg forward Julian Draxler in a £34m deal.

    The Germany international. who joined Wolfsburgh 18 months ago, has agreed a four-year deal with the French champions.

    "For the first time in my career, I am going to discover a new country, a new championship and I am very proud to live this new stage in a club which has become a reference in Europe," he told the club website.

    "I intend to help Paris Saint-Germain win new titles and continue to grow internationally."

    Yep, you've read that right - five-time Olympic champion and recently retired cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins is swapping bikes for skis as he prepares to appear on Channel 4's winter sports The Jump.

    Wiggins will appear alongside fellow Olympians Louis Smith and Jade Jones and Paralympian Kadeena Cox.

    The 36-year-old, who in 2012 became the first Briton to win the Tour de France, said skiing was "a big passion".

    "It was a mix of that and the other committed names this year that made me want to sign up," he said.

    "I see this as a sporting challenge and want to go out there and win it. Just don't call me a celebrity."

    Derby County's 10-game unbeaten Championship run came to an end on Monday against Norwich City, and boss Steve McClaren says the loss has shown him how important it is to strengthen his squad.

    The Rams have already submitted a bid for Nottingham Forest captain Henri Lansbury, and Derby are still interested in the midfielder.  

    They are also hopeful of bringing back Chris Martin from his loan spell at Fulham, despite the London side's reluctance to release the striker.

    ""They have turned it down and we will discuss that even further," McClaren said. "He is a player we have always admired but I will leave it to the club and see if anything can be sorted."

    Gillingham have sacked their manager Justin Edinburgh after less than two years with the League One side.

    The Gills have lost 11 of their 25 league matches this season and are currently 17th in the table, 10 points away from the play-offs.

    They have lost their last two league games, including a 1-0 loss at home to Oxford on Monday.

    "Having returned to work yesterday, this is obviously a difficult decision to begin 2017 with," club chairman Paul Scally said.  

    "The form over the past 12 months has not been as good as expected, and yesterday's defeat was the final straw."

    David Warner has got 2017 off to a flying start as he became the first batsman to hit a century in the opening session of a Test in Australia.

    Warner scored 113 from 95 balls as Australia dominated Pakistan on the first day of the third Test.

    Matt Renshaw - born in Middlesbrough - scored his maiden Test century, ending the day unbeaten on 167 as Australia reaced 365-3.

    Warner smashed 17 boundaries on his way to his 18th Test century before falling to Wahab Riaz after lunch.

    Michael van Gerwen beat defending champion Gary Anderson to win his second PDC World Darts Championship.

    The world number one registered a 7-3 win in a match that contained 42 180's - a record for a single darts match.

    Scotland's Anderson, winner in 2015 and 2016 broke the Van Gerwen throw to lead the favourite 2-1 after three sets.

    But Van Gerwen won 12 of the next 13 legs and, despite an Anderson rally, the Dutchman hit bullseye to seal it.

    "We all fight for this really hard and I'm really glad I did the right thing at the right moments because Gary is a phenomenal player," he said.

    Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke will turn down a chance to move to China, according to today's Daily Mail., external

    Benteke is reportedly the subject of a £40m offer from Beijing Guoan, while other Chinese clubs are also interested in the striker.

    However Benteke, who has scored eight goals in 17 appearances for Palace this season, is keen to continue working under Sam Allardyce.
