Turns out we were right - and it wasn't even Carragher who sent it. Liverpool boxer Liam Smith got hold of the Sky pundit's phone in the gym...

World number one Andy Murray says he does not know much about his Australian Open second round opponent Andrey Rublev.

Murray will face the 19-year-old Russian, ranked 152nd in the world, on Wednesday from about 09:30 GMT.

Fellow Briton Dan Evans will also be in action in Melbourne, against seventh seed Marin Cilic.

"I've never hit with him or played against him, but I've seen him play and he goes for it," Murray said of Rublev.

"I know a little bit about him and he doesn't hold back. He hits a big ball.''

Looks like he hits a mean jab in the ring, too. Murray, a boxing fan himself, will probably enjoy the picture below...

We've been asking you to design your sporting logos today (and you've delivered in style) after Juventus made a right big deal about their new crest.

Juve midfielder Sami Khedira posted a picture from yesterday's logo launch with team-mates Patrice Evra, Miralem Pjanic and Marko Pjaca and suggested they looked like a boyband from the '90s.

Sportsday reader Matt Bancroft has replied to Sami and suggested the resemblance - of boyband and logo - is rather more recent than that...

Norwich boss Alex Neil has faced the media to preview tomorrow night's FA Cup replay at Premier League Southampton.

Having taken only four points from their past five Championship games as they've dropped to 11th in the table, Neil says he will be making changes for the tie at St Mary's.

"We need to make changes for Southampton. It's a game we want to win but I've always said the league is our priority," said Neil.

"The most important thing is getting back on track in the league. I can't jeopardise that tomorrow."

Southend await Ranger investigationpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    Football

Southend United say they will not make a decision on Nile Ranger's future at the club until a Football Association investigation is completed.

The striker was suspended by the League One club last week after a "breach of discipline" and will not be allowed to play until the inquiry is over.

On Wednesday, the 25-year-old admitted an online banking fraud, but the suspension is believed to be unrelated.

It is expected the investigation will be concluded by the end of January.

FA looking at retrospective diving banspublished at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    Football

Hull's Robert SnodgrassImage source, Getty Images

More on the news that the Football Association is looking at introducing retrospective bans for players who dive or feign injury.

Officials will visit Scotland, where retrospective bans are already used.

In England, players are currently only given retrospective bans for incidents of violent conduct.

It is understood a rule change would require agreement from all football governing bodies in England.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes diving would be eradicated from football "in six months" with retrospective bans.

Dyche's comments come after two recent incidents in Premier League matches.

Robert Snodgrass apologised for going down without contact to earn a penalty for Hull against Crystal Palace, while Dele Alli won a debated spot-kick in Tottenham's 5-0 win over Swansea.

Liverpool dominated the first game at Anfield, with 80.3% possession in the first half, but Plymouth's 4-5-1 formation managed to keep them out.

Klopp had no complaints about the Pilgrims' tactics at Anfield but suggested they won't be able to contain the Reds in Wednesday's replay.

He said: "All credit to Plymouth. They're allowed to defend with all they have. It's up to us. This game will be different."

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on tomorrow's FA Cup third-round replay against Plymouth.

The first game, at Anfield on 8 January, finished 0-0 after Klopp fielded the youngest Liverpool starting line-up in the club's history with an average age of 21 years and 296 days.

"It'll probably be different to the team in the first game," said Klopp.

Asked about 19-year-old midfielder Harry Wilson, he added: "He's a wonderful young player. He's part of our thoughts for this game."

Asked whether Simon Mignolet, who made several excellent stops at Manchester United on Sunday, or Loris Karius will start in goal, Klopp said: "If nothing happens, Loris."

Karlovic in Aussie Open marathonpublished at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    Tennis

Croatia's Ivo Karlovic needed five hours and 14 minutes to reach the second round of the Australian Open.

The 6ft 10ins 20th seed, who was up against Argentina's Horacio Zeballos, eventually took the fifth set 22-20 after a total of 84 games.

There were 108 aces in total with Karlovic booming down 75 of them.

Karlovic's 6-7 (6-8) 3-6 7-5 6-2 22-20 win is the longest at the Australian Open in terms of games since tie-breaks were introduced for the first four sets in the 1970s.

It is the joint-second longest in terms of time but falls almost six hours short of the longest match in history when John Isner took 11 hours and five minutes to beat Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010 in a match decided 70-68 in the final set.

Have a listen to David Law's BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentary of the winning moment - and Karlovic's screams of delight - here.

Plymouth to consider Goodwillie court judgementpublished at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    Football

Former Scotland international David Goodwillie will not be selected to play for Plymouth Argyle until the club has considered a court judgment which ruled he and a former team-mate raped a woman.

Goodwillie and his ex-Dundee United team-mate David Robertson have been ordered to pay £100,000 damages to the woman despite never facing a criminal trial.

Plymouth said in a statement: "We note today's judgment from the Court of Session in Edinburgh regarding David Goodwillie. We await the full report, which we will consider in detail before making any comment. Until such time, David Goodwillie will not be selected to play for Plymouth Argyle."

Robertson currently plays for Scottish League Two side Cowdenbeath.

Goodwillie has also played for Blackburn Rovers and Aberdeen.

FA Cup third-round replay, Plymouth Argyle v Liverpool (Weds, 19:45 GMT)

More from Jurgen Klopp on Joel Matip:

"Fifa have told us they will decide on Friday if they open a case or not."

Previously, world football's governing body said that it referred Liverpool to article five of its rules which state that "a player who has been called up by his association for one of its representative teams is, unless otherwise agreed, not entitled to play for his club during the period for which he has been released, plus an additional period of five days".

The availability or otherwise of Liverpool defender Joel Matip is no nearer to resolution, according to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Matip 'refused to play' for Cameroon after being named in the preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and last appeared for them in September 2015.

Fifa says that without his country's permission, Matip cannot play for Liverpool until the end of Cameroon's participation in the tournament.

"I would consider him in the line-up for tomorrow, but I don't know if I can," says Klopp.

"Joel is not happy about the situation. I told him before the United game 'sorry, I can't pick you'.

"We are sure we did nothing wrong. We are sure Joel Matip did nothing wrong. Since he has been here he has not been a Cameroon player."
