Muirfield decision 'a long time coming', says Sports Minister published at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2017

    Golf

Earlier on we told you that Muirfield has voted to admit women members and Sports Minister Tracey Crouch has given her reaction.

She said: "I am pleased the members of Muirfield have finally voted to admit women members.

"The decision has been a long time coming and it was right the R&A made clear to Muirfield that the Open Championship would only be hosted at clubs that allow women members.

"Golf has the potential to attract a more diverse audience to the game and this decision sends out an important message. It is vital clubs and sports organisations play their part in promoting equality."

Media access to training sessions can sometimes be a bit boring.

Today was one of those days.

Apart from long-term injury absentees Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus, everyone was present at the Etihad Campus this morning, meaning Pep Guardiola should have a big squad to choose from when Manchester City play Monaco tomorrow.

The one strange thing concerned Guardiola himself.

He was wearing a blue hat at the start of the session but 10 minutes later had switched to a pink one.

"In the next few games we've got teams who are in and around us... these games are massive for us."

Hull, 18th in the table, are one-point behind 17th-placed Crystal Palace, who have played a game less.

He'll fight at cruiserweight and start against Russell Henshaw, who has seven wins from 10 fights.

"I want to dominate the division. I'm not afraid to let the other Cruiserweights know that I'm here and I am coming for them," says Okolie, 24.

Anthony Crolla tops the bill on 25 March as he goes into a WBA lightweight world-title rematch with Jorge Linares. There will be commentary on 5-live and a live text on this website. Let's get it on.

Highest FA Cup audience of the season

Monday's FA Cup quarter-final from Chelsea offered a sending off, a fine goal, an N'Golo Kante masterclass, and Jose Mourinho typically irked by referees and defeat for Manchester United. Not bad viewing then.

It turns out the match, shown live on BBC One and online, had a peak audience of 7.7m – the highest of the season in the FA Cup so far.

A further 1.1m watched online. We hope you enjoyed it.

Remember, it'll be semi-final time on 22 and 23 April. Tottenham v Chelsea and Arsenal v Man City.
