Luton's failure to reach the League Two play-off final last night may have further consequences for the Hatters.

Manager Nathan Jones is one of the favourites for the manager's job at Wigan.

And now Luton's season is over, the Latics - preparing for life in League One following their relegation from the Championship - may look to test whether Jones is willing to make the step up after an impressive 18 months at Kenilworth Road.

The top four battlepublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 19 May 2017

    We have the champions Chelsea.

We have the three relegated teams in Sunderland, Hull and Middlesbrough.

We have the second-placed team in Spurs and Manchester United will still be sixth come the end of the season.

The rest are much of a muchness, so what are we looking forward to this weekend?

It's the race to finish in the final Champions League spots.

Manchester City look the most likely to finish third barring a freak set of results so it's down to Arsenal and Liverpool, who play Everton and Middlesbrough respectively, for that fourth place spot.

There could also be a remote chance of a Champions League play-off game if results go the right way, a game one Sportsday reader referred to as "The Fight For The Right To Weeknight Lights".

Liverpool news conferencepublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 19 May 2017

Liverpool v Middlesbrough (Sun, 15:00 BST)

Jurgen Klopp has been talking about the financial benefits of being in the Champions League: "It is a wonderful competition. It is money we didn't have last year. That is one part of it

"We are a club without financial problems and we have money to spend.

"We have a really good side when out first 11, 12, 13 players are fit."

  10. Liverpool news conferencepublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 19 May 2017

Liverpool v Middlesbrough (Sun, 15:00 BST)

Liverpool need a win against Middlesbrough to guarantee Champions League football next season.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchster City occupy third to fifth place in the Premier League and are separated by three points.

"So far a successful season and we want to finish successful, " said Jurgen Klopp. "If we have enough points we deserve Champions League, if we don't - we don't.

"The best thing would be 4-0 after two minutes but that is not possible. If start is not good that doesn't mean we will stop. Everyone can be sure we will fight."

  14. Awkward...published at 10:52 British Summer Time 19 May 2017

    Geoff Doyle
    BBC Three Counties Radio sport

Walter Mazzarri has his final pre-match news conference today as Watford boss and it's set to be an awkward one.

The Italian was sacked on Wednesday and he's since spoken to Spanish media saying Watford lacked the ambition and mentality of some of his former clubs. How will he respond to some no-doubt uncomfortable questions today?

The search for his successor continues. Hull boss Marco Silva is thought to be the number one choice. Former Russia national manager Leonid Slutsky, ex Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri and former Italy manager Cesare Prandelli are also being mentioned and many Watford fans would be happy to see the return of Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic who led the Hornets to the Premier League two years ago.

Wembley at 10 trivia answerpublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 19 May 2017

We asked you who was the first Englishman to score a hat-trick at the new Wembley.

A few of you have said David Bentley, who was the first Englishman to score at the new Wembley in an England under-21 match against Italy on 24 March 2007.

But the answer we were looking for was Jermain Colin Defoe.

The Sunderland striker scored his three against in England’s 4-0 Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on 3 September 2010.

David Murphy was the only one to get it right.
