Day two sees the bottom half of the men's draw and the top half of the women's draw get under way, with top seed Angelique Kerber opening the show on Centre Court against American Irina Falconi.

With Serena Williams absent, you might think world number one Kerber would be a decent shout for the title, but even the German herself says she is "starting from zero" at Wimbledon after a disappointing year.

The woman in form is third seed Karolina Pliskova, who leads the women's serving charts for 2017 and backs it up with equally thumping, flat groundstrokes. But she's never been past round two in five attempts, so Evgeniya Rodina will feel she has a chance on Court One today.
