Arsene Wenger insists Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be joining Chelsea. The England international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but Wenger adds: "I'm convinced that he will be in the next two or three years the English player everyone looks at."

The Arsenal boss says there has been "no progress" on Alexis Sanchez signing a new deal and that he is resigned to the Chile forward going into the final year of his contract - and possibly leaving for free next summer.

Arsene Wenger has been speaking about the future of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is being linked with a move to Aston Villa in some of today's newspapers.

Wenger says the plan is keep the England international at the club for the whole season.

"It's good that he is back and available," adds Wenger. "I think he needs games now. He might play again on Monday night. He is not far away now [from being completely fit].

Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez is "not quite available" to face Stoke City on Saturday but defender Shkodran Mustafi and midfielder Francis Coquelin are now fit and will be in the squad.

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal have not made any progress on a new contract for Alexis Sanchez.

Wenger, who is holding a news conference now, adds: "He is a player who goes into the final year of his contract. We have not progressed on that front."

I have got to say Liverpool were the better side and they really could have put this game to bed. I know it was 2-0 at one stage - it could have been three or four. This tie should be over.

But Hoffenheim will go to Anfield thinking they have still got a chance. I'll be very shocked if Liverpool don't go through at Anfield.

Liverpool are 90 minutes away from joining Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in the Champions League group stage draw.

Jurgen Klopp's side will start next Wednesday's Champions League play-off second leg against Hoffenheim at Anfield with a 2-1 lead after a hard-fought victory in Germany on Tuesday.

Goals by 18-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold and an own goal by Havard Nordtveit gave the Reds a 2-0 lead before Mark Uth netted for the hosts three minutes from time.

Hoffenheim need to score twice at Anfield to advance.

Arsene Wenger is the first out of the blocks in terms of Premier League managers previewing this weekend's games.
