    Arsene Wenger has been speaking about the future of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is being linked with a move to Aston Villa in some of today's newspapers.

    Wenger says the plan is keep the England international at the club for the whole season.

    "It's good that he is back and available," adds Wenger. "I think he needs games now. He might play again on Monday night. He is not far away now [from being completely fit].

    I have got to say Liverpool were the better side and they really could have put this game to bed. I know it was 2-0 at one stage - it could have been three or four. This tie should be over.

    But Hoffenheim will go to Anfield thinking they have still got a chance. I'll be very shocked if Liverpool don't go through at Anfield.

    Liverpool are 90 minutes away from joining Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in the Champions League group stage draw.

    Jurgen Klopp's side will start next Wednesday's Champions League play-off second leg against Hoffenheim at Anfield with a 2-1 lead after a hard-fought victory in Germany on Tuesday.

    Goals by 18-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold and an own goal by Havard Nordtveit gave the Reds a 2-0 lead before Mark Uth netted for the hosts three minutes from time.

    Hoffenheim need to score twice at Anfield to advance.
