Arizona Cardinals 0-7 Los Angeles Rams

That's three drives, three punts for the Cardinals. Kyler Murray cannot get this offence firing just now and it's all too easy for the Rams.

Arizona Cardinals 0-7 Los Angeles Rams

This has been a nice drive by the Rams and after a couple of misfires in the running game, Stafford again takes to the air to hand a first career play-off touchdown on a plate for Odell Beckham Jr.

  4. Great play!published at 01:40 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals 0-0 Los Angeles Rams

Matt Stafford again takes to the air and tight end Tyler Higbee hauls it in. The Rams are first and goal and piling the pressure on here.

  5. Great play!published at 01:37 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals 0-0 Los Angeles Rams

After the second Cardinals punt in as many drives, it falls to the Rams to again make a nice play as Matt Stafford finds Odell Beckham Jr for a 17-yard gain.

A quarterback sneak by Stafford on the next play has the Rams within striking distance with a first and 10 on the 25-yard line.

  6. Conner active for Arizonapublished at 01:33 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals 0-0 Los Angeles Rams

Arizona are again missing star receiver DeAndre Hopkins tonight. He's been out with a knee injury since the Cardinals' week 14 loss to the Rams but could return later in the play-offs - if the Cards march on of course.

Their offence has had a boost, though, with James Conner active after being questionable with a rib injury. The running back claimed 18 touchdowns in the regular season - 15 rushing, 3 receiving.

  7. Stafford Sackedpublished at 01:27 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals 0-0 Los Angeles Rams

The Rams can't sustain the pressure and Matt Stafford is sacked by Markus Golden on third down.

The Rams punt it away and both defences can claim the early bragging rights here.

  8. Big gain for Ramspublished at 01:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals 0-0 Los Angeles Rams

The Cardinals go three and out from the first drive of the game so the Rams get the ball and Sony Michel takes immediate advantage, punching it up the middle for a gain of 35 yards and into Cards territory.

  10. Last time they metpublished at 01:17 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

Well Jason, the last time the Rams' quarterback Matthew Stafford had one of 'those' games was probably against the Cardinals in their last meeting in week 14.

Stafford steered the Rams to a 30-23 win at Arizona, passing for 287 yards and three touchdowns, including a 52-yard score for wide receiver Van Jefferson, who is active for tonight's game after being questionable with a shoulder injury.

  11. 'I worry about the Rams' depth'published at 01:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

    Jason Bell
    Former NFL cornerback

The Rams are full of stars but I worry that they don't have a lot of depth, which is always scary in the play-offs. It can just take one thing to go wrong, and they lost their safeties last week (Taylor Rapp and Jordan Fuller).

But I'm going with the Rams because I'm waiting for Matthew Stafford to get hot, and he can. If he doesn't turn the ball over and has one of those games, they can win. The problem is, when was the last time he had one of those games?

  12. Cards again finish the season poorlypublished at 01:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

The Arizona Cardinals were the last team in the NFL to lose their unbeaten record (after seven games) and were the first to reach 10 wins, but they have not come into the play-offs in the best shape, losing four of their last five games.

In each of their three seasons under Kliff Kingsbury, the Cardinals' form has tailed off alarmingly in the second half.

  13. Cards have been 'a shell of themselves' towards end of seasonpublished at 01:10 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

    Osi Umenyiora
    Two-time Super Bowl winner

The Cardinals haven't been playing well at all, but they play better on the road than they do at home. They've been 8-1 on the road and they've been a shell of themselves in the way they've played over the last half of the season.

But the Rams are just tough man. They're tough to call because they have all these weapons, all these stars, but they're not quite playing the way you'd think they would.

I'd probably say the Rams but I don't know. I can't call this one.

  14. NFL honours Martin Luther King Jr.published at 01:09 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

It is also the first game to be played on the US national holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the NFL is paying tribute tonight.

  15. Will home advantage matter?published at 01:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (01:15 GMT)

This year's Super Bowl, the NFL showpiece, will be held on 13 February at SoFi Stadium, the new home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams.

Last year the Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their own stadium, beating the Kansas City Chiefs, but can the Rams repeat the feat?

They have home advantage after winning the NFC West division ahead of the Cardinals, who did enough for a wildcard spot. But how much will it matter?

Arizona finished the regular season with an 11-6 record which included eight wins from nine on the road. The Rams may have been 12-5 but they lost three of their eight home games.

And the two times they've already faced this season, the away team won each game.

  16. Welcome to Super Wildcard Mondaypublished at 01:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

It's the first week of the NFL play-offs, now billed the 'Super Wildcard' weekend, and just one place in week two is still to be decided... now who will take it - the Arizona Cardinals or Los Angeles Rams?

When the NFL play-offs were expanded last season by two teams, it created two more games in round one.

Traditionally they were split over Saturday and Sunday, as they were last year, but this year we've got one on Monday - spreading out the gridiron action and making this the first wildcard game ever to be played on a weekday.

And after a couple of blow-out wins so far, this could be the closest game of the weekend. So make yourself comfortable because this could be a cracker.

We'll be here for the long haul as we find out the final team to keep rolling on the road to Super Bowl 56.
