  2. Giants injury newspublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 9 October 2022

New York Giants v Green Bay Packers (14:30 BST)

The Giants have been hit by a raft of injuries but the big boost for the G-Men is that quarterback Daniel Jones has been declared fit after recovering from an ankle strain sustained in last Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears.

However, back-up QB Tyrod Taylor is out in concussion protocol while Jones' passing options are reduced by the absences of wide receivers Kenny Golladay (knee) and Kadarius Toney (hamstring).

The Giants have elevated third choice quarterback Davis Webb - yet to throw a pass in the NFL - to the roster as Jones' deputy.

In contrast to the Giants, Green Bay have been play-off regulars in recent times, reaching the post-season in 12 of their past 15 campaigns – but for the most part it’s been a story of glorious failures.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still to add to the solitary Super Bowl ring he won in 2011, with the Packers losing four NFC Championship games since then, including two in the past three years.

Having traded Rodgers’ favourite receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, expectations were perhaps slightly lower than usual in Wisconsin pre-season but a 23-7 opening-weekend defeat by divisional rivals Minnesota still stung.

Since then, however, the Packers have bounced back impressively, brushing aside Chicago before edging out Tom Brady’s Buccaneers and the New England Patriots in a couple of statement wins.

It’s been a tough few years for the New York Giants, with just one play-off appearance in the past decade – and even that was a one-and-out as they were handled comfortably by, coincidentally, the Packers in 2016.

That 11-5 season was their only winning year in the past nine seasons, a real fall from grace for a side that won the Super Bowl in 2007 and 2011 with Eli Manning as quarterback.

But with new head coach Brian Daboll arriving from Buffalo, Daniel Jones showing signs of hitting his stride as Manning’s successor and marquee running back Saquon Barkley finally free of injury, there are reasons for optimism in the blue half of the Big Apple.

It’s been their defense that has shown up big time this season, though, helping the Giants to three narrow, low-scoring wins over Tennessee, Carolina and Chicago on their way to a 3-1 record so far, their best start to a season since 2011.

Both teams in action this afternoon have made positive starts to the season, each 3-1 after four weeks – indeed the meeting will be the first NFL London game between two teams with winning records.

But even that has not been enough for either team to sit atop their divisional table – the Giants are behind the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East, while the Minnesota Vikings, who handed Green Bay their solitary defeat so far on opening weekend, are above the Packers in the NFC North.

It's been 15 years since the NFL International Series launched in London - but today is the first time the Green Bay Packers will set foot on British soil.

They are the 32nd and final franchise to feature in a London game.

The Giants, meanwhile, played in the very first London game, beating Miami (above) in 2007, and also defeated the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham in 2016 so are bidding to extend their London record to 3-0.

Welcome to Tottenham, or is it Wisconsin? There are so many Green Bay Packers fans here it's hard to know the difference.

The New York Giants are well represented, but no doubt this is a home game for MVP Aaron Rodgers as the Packers finally make their UK debut.

All eyes will be on Rodgers, but for Big Blue it'll be running back Saquon Barkley who will have to have a huge game.

So sit back and keep it right here - this one's going to be fun...
