Morocco's Rababe Arafi (1:58.55) crosses the line first in the women's 800m semi-final but Britain's Jenny Meadows is seventh which means there'll be no place for Wigan's finest in the final despite her running a season's 2:00.53. Here's some more on what we were talking about earlier with Justin Gatlin's agent Renaldo Nehemiah accusing the BBC of being unprofessional during their coverage of the men's 100m final.

BBC commentator Steve Cram responds: "The comments I made were not about Justin Gatlin, it was about the whole sport needing its hero to win.

"Gatlin will probably never be a hero. He has a right to run, according to the rules, but he has no right to expect people to like him or for people to complete forgive him because the sport is in severe danger."

I'm really happy. Now I'm a World Championships finalist and that's more than I could've asked for. I was really happy with the heat and when I saw who I had in the semi-final I knew it was strong competition and that I would have to really go for it. That was so much fun. Oh my, I'm a World Championship finalist. I'm loving being in Beijing.

Dina Asher-Smith handled herself like a veteran, not a 19-year-old. That was fantastic. She'll be in a good position in the final - it will get tougher but she's focusing on her own race and performances.
