Ah, Farah's just headed off for a drink at the table out in lane nine. Let's just say he's quite relaxed about how things are going. The drinks have been moved to lane three - er, a bit close for comfort.

    We have gone through 1600m.

Mo this, Mo that, let's not forget there is another Brit in the 5,000m final - Tom Farrell.

The Cumbrian 24-year-old, who trained at Oklahoma State University, missed out on London 2012 because of injury. He has already made the most of this opportunity by qualifying for the final.

"No man has ever won the 'triple-double' of 5,000m and 10,000m gold at an Olympics and two World Championships. No man has ever won three World 5,000m titles in a row. In the same Bird's Nest stadium where he went out in the Olympic 5,000m heats seven years ago, Mo Farah will tonight attempt to change all that. The danger men are likely to be Kenya's Caleb Ndiku, with the assistance of his Kenyan team-mate Edwin Soi, and Ethiopia's Hagos Gebrhiwet; it's a warm, sticky evening here, and Farah must once again stay cool under the most immense pressure."

Well, what an epic battle down the home straight.

Belarus athlete Marina Arzamasova pips Canada's Melissa Bishop (silver) and Kenya's Eunice Sum (bronze) to win in 1:58.03. The 2013 champion Sum will be disappointed - had not much left in the tank in the last 50m.

Briton Shelayna Oskan-Clarke was boxed in with 250m to go when she looked like she wanted to strike.
