    Men's elite race

Men's marathon winner Daniel Wanjiru speaking to BBC Sport: "In the beginning the race was very fast and we were inside world record pace. It was the pace I was preparing for.

"As it was very fast anything can happen. We helped each other from the starting, talking and we tried to maintain that pace for half of the race. From there it was becoming tougher and tougher.

"The sun was coming and the day was beautiful but we don’t need too much sun! The race was good for me. It was very comfortable (to be in world record pace)."

An excellent race between these two races, and Wanjiru is first in with a cuddle as Bekele crosses the finish line. It's the biggest win of Wanjiru's career, and he looks absolutely delighted.

This is some final push from Kenenisa Bekele.

Daniel Wanjiru keeps glancing over his shoulder - still, Benkele is gaining on him. To come back from that. Has Benkele got enough for the sprint finish? Wanjiru has found a little bit extra as he turns the corner towards the finish line.

I would love Kenenisa Bekele to win this today, it would be a fantastic achievement.

A couple of miles ago you wouldnt have given him tuppence for his chances! now, Wanjiru knows there is a race on.

He has Kenenisa hunting him down and Kenenisa's confidence must be rising.
