Sophie Hitchon likes her second throw on release, but it's not quite as long as she first thought.

It's a marginal improvement though - 71.62m, keeps her in fourth.

Massive favourite Anita Wlodarczyk is on the edge though. A foul in her second throw means that she is only sixth so far. The top eight get three more throws after their third effort.

Plenty to keep us occupied and entertained tonight but if you're the sort of person who only tunes in for medals, there are four golds on offer this evening.

The women's hammer - which has started - the women's triple jump, the men's 110m hurdles and the women's 1500m will have champions tonight.

Can a British athlete or two get amongst the medals? Here's hoping...

Defending world triple jump champion Christian Taylor qualified for the final with 17.15m.

He tells BBC Sport he wants to break Jonathan Edwards' 22-year-old work record of 18.29m: "It's all about having fun and going after that magic number. I've jumped 18m this year and now I'm in good shape. It's a big target on my back. I want to do something that makes history. I want to jump 18.30m-plus. So grateful for the British supporters."
