Dave finished in 2:13:50. Pretty good for 69, we reckon!

This is a great pic shared by one of today's runners - Dave Leng from Gateshead Harriers, who was a boyhood team-mate of GNR founder Brendan Foster. This is the pair aged 15 in 1963.

Love the way in the original pic, Brendan looks pretty casual while the rest of the boys look absolutely shattered!

This is Stuart Warner, a teacher from Birmingham who was inspired by the London Marathon to transform his life and train for the Great Birmingham Run...

When Kim Scott, a mum from Northumberland, didn't want to train alone she set up a Facebook group asking if anyone wanted to join her. What happened next is one of the best things we've seen around this year's Great North Run...

We've just passed 21,000 people who have passed the finish line. Superb scenes and a pretty good day for running.

Talking of the British Red Cross, here's some great advice, external for offering assistance if you see a runner who's struggling on the road...

This is a story we were following at Get Inspired in the lead up to today's race. Team Brenda is the support team for Dr Brenda Whittle, who has spent the last 15 years determinedly re-learning motor skills after a viral brain injury left her unable to walk or talk.

Today she plans to get out of her chair and walk the final 10 steps of the Great North Run.

Two years ago, Matt Hadden from Darlington was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. His left leg was amputated but the cancer spread and is potentially terminal.

But the 28-year-old is determined to do as much as he can in the time he has left and one of the things on his bucket list is the Great North Run.

He's also running to raise funds for the Maggie's cancer support centre, external in Newcastle. Check out his inspiring story...

He started the first ever Great North Run - with the small matter of an army howitzer - and it's with sadness that we learned of the death of Mike Neville, for many years the face of news broadcasting in the north-east, at the age of 80 this week.

Brendan Foster paid tribute to him on the start line earlier:

"He was a warm man and a genius broadcaster – he was outstanding. We almost hoped something technical would go wrong so he could come into his own. The reaction in the north-east has been amazing."
