Not a bad starter eh? Don't forget we still have the heavyweight contest between Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora to come. It has a lot to live up to...
The judges had it 115-114 Saunders, 116-113 Eubank Jnr and 115-113 Saunders.
Chris Eubank's corner do not look happy but Billy Joe Saunders takes it on a split decision and retains his British, European and Commonwealth titles. What a finish by Eubank, he has shown he can compete at this level but credit Billy Joe. His superior boxing skills just about dragged him through.
Billy Joe Saunders is being carried on the shoulders of his people. He certainly dominated the opening stages but Eubank's strong, strong finish makes this very close for me.
Saunders reacts with a couple of shots of his own but it doesn't stop Eubank coming forward. A left uppercut landed in an exchange by Eubank and Billy Joe looks hurt. A warning for use of elbow for Eubank as he comes again. Punch, punch, punch, it is all Eubank. Fight over and this is too close to call. Both raise their hands.
This is sheer aggression. Eubank is just coming forward and throwing everything he has. It is wild stuff but he is landing as well. Billy Joe is looking shattered with just under two minutes left.
Eubank looks strong. He is swinging for fun now, although is missing as much as he lands. Saunders is doing little as an attacking force but can Eubank take advantage? He again leaps towards Saunders as he throws a couple of rights. Two uppercuts landed by Eubank but Saunders refuses to be daunted and hits back with a shot of his own. Desperate stuff from Eubank as he looks for that knockout punch. One round to go and this is close for me.
Tim Hague BBC:, external Eubank Jr and Snr were very confident when we met last week for our feature. A lot more nervous now. But it's boxing, you never know.
Steve Holden:, external I just wonder whether Eubank Snr's presence is actually detrimental to his son's progress...
Eubank's corner: "You've got to stop him, mate. You've got two rounds and you've got to stop him, I'm telling you. You've got to throw more shots. Waken up, you've got to stop him. Win the fight. Bring the fight to him now. Relax and keep your head."
Eubank keeps coming forward and lands with a huge left hand. Saunders is holding on here and Eubank keeps coming. Bell goes after a big last 30 seconds for the challenger. A huge last two rounds left.
The chatter continues from Eubank. He looks confident and lands with a left to the face. Jabs are exchanged before referee Michael Alexander is forced to separate their clinch. Billy Joe hits back with a right of his own with a minute of the round to go.
Robin Bray:, external Come on Billy Joe, show the country what you're made of!
Ritchie:, external Seriously, is there any point in Eubank having anyone in his corner?
Saunders' corner: "Breathe deep. You got yourself back in there, just about. Make him punch fresh air. Come on Joe! You've got to pull this out in the last three rounds, otherwise he's going to win. Make him miss, make him miss! If you're nice and compact he'll fall into you."
Chris Eubank Jnr has never been this far in his career but he is looking the stronger. Saunders is trapped on the ropes as Eubank lets fly. Not everything lands as he throws punch after punch but he is the more proactive boxer once more. Saunders looks a tired man as Eubank continues to work well on the inside. Saunders hits back with a good solid right hand and lands again as Eubank leaves himself exposed after a desperate missed right. Eubank hits back as Saunders is caught by a big, big hit. Blood flowing from Saunders' nose as the bell goes. Some big hits from both boxers landed.
Carl Frampton, IBF super-bantamweight champion:, external Eubank's corner is a circus. Snr craves the limelight.
Eubank's corner: "You're landing your jab. Plant your feet then start moving around."
Eubank is forcing Saunders back. A few punches being landed on Billy Joe now as he looks a tad tired. A good combination of punches thrown by Eubank with Saunders forced back on the ropes. Another shot landed as Billy Joe is again forced back. Saunders's jab is looking less and less effective as this fight goes on. Eubank is well in this now.
Eubank's corner: "You got to stop him now. Bring the fight to him, because once you start landing you really will land. Push it."
Former world champion Barry McGuigan on Twitter:, external First round for Eubank. Four to Saunders. One even and one to Eubank.
Eubank is trying to get closer to his man to make this more of a scrap. As he gets inside, he looks far more dangerous. A warning for Eubank for hitting as they break but it is much quicker and better stuff from him. Eubank walks onto a right hand but smiles as if to say 'is that all you have Joe'. Saunders has Eubank on the ropes again but misses with a flurry of punches. Billy Joe is getting dragged into a scrap here and that suits Eubank.
