Defeated Charles Martin speaks to Sky Sports: "He was the better man. I got hit by a right hand I didn't see and that cost the fight.

"I was OK but the referee came over at six, I got to the knee at seven, took a breath and when I stood up he was at 10.

"He's not difficult to fight. He's a great fighter, I want to say that, it was just that his right hand was fast, I didn't see the right. He's got good speed.

What would you do differently? "I'd take it right to him, don't give him any respect. 

"I'm not disappointed, he was just the better man but I'll get back in there, I'm not done. Just keep on grinding."

Promoter Eddie Hearn speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "I was so nervous when a man walked in with a crown on like a prince. 

"Joshua said 'this is taking ages'. I told him 'you've just got to concentrate'. And he said 'trust me, I've got this'.

"Anthony Joshua has just destroyed him and he'll destroy every other heavyweight in the world. 

"I'm so proud. We've got a man here who can change the sport."

After a fine first round, Anthony Joshua came out for the second and scored two knock downs, leaving the dethroned IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin wanting.

Martin tried to use the full 10 count but got counted out. In truth, his race was run, Joshua was slick, classy and devastating. He seems to have it all.

Everyone wants a photo with the champion now. He's posing for selfies galore and doing it all with a smile.

Holding the belt, Anthony Joshua spoke to BBC Radio 5 live's Mike Costello ringside:

"I've got big respect but I want to do more," said the 26-year-old.

"Let's put that bad boy away with the Olympic medal and go get some more.

"I'm going to walk through Fury when he's ready. I mean business and I'm here to stay."

Britain's undefeated WBO, WBA and IBO world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on Twitter: "So AJ gets a belt, looked slow ponderous, & still looked like a bodybuilder, let me slay the lamb."

A stat for you, Anthony Joshua's ascent to world heavyweight champion is the fifth-quickest by any heavyweight.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office: "This is only the beginning for Anthony. He wants to win all of the world titles. Britain should be very proud of him. He's a role model who can transcend the sport and young people can look up to him. He'll go on to become a great of the sport. He's so humble - he's acting like he's just won a four-rounder."
