    Groves v Brophy

Nice footwork from George Groves as he dances in close and throws a right uppercut. A left jab creates an inch of an opening in the guard so he follows it with a right and he has his man backed up. The ropes are a friend to David Brophy right now, his back is stuck to them and another straight right sees leather land flush on his face.

All three rounds belong to Saint George Groves.

    Groves v Brophy

David Brophy's last four fights have been in leisure centres, though he did win them all.

George Groves and Carl Froch sold out Wembley Stadium.

Maybe that underlines where we are at here.

Brophy has a cut below his eye so this stand and soak it tactic is not really working too well. Some brief aggression from him as he throws a right hook.

  6. Round twopublished at 22:30 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Groves v Brophy

This is of course very much base camp on a rebuild for George Groves, he needs to get back to world level and take his chance. Boxing is boxing, you have to earn your stripes after strife and my guess is he may get one more world title shot if he's lucky but no more.

He's comfortable here and looking for ways through the defence of the man in grey trunks with red trim. The shots are not flying in bunches but they ones that do are decent. He's barely blowing, first gear and in charge.

  7. Round two...published at 22:28 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Groves v Brophy

David Brophy comes out again, he must barely be able to see through that high guard he adopts. Groves a lot more free in his stance, right hand by his chin, left arm dangled out in front.

Tattoos aplenty on Groves for the body art lovers.

  10. Round Onepublished at 22:26 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Groves v Brophy

George Groves and the right hand, it's packed with venom and his first shot has shaken David Brophy to his boots. This could be an early night, the Scot is on the ropes, like a kitchen sponge he's just there to soak now. Ouch, ouch, ouch... he must be feeling this and the referee is having a good look.

He survives but now he knows the level he is at.

  11. Round Onepublished at 22:24 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Groves v Brophy

George Groves in black shorts, black boots, black gloves. His left arm leading as always. He seems to stalk opponents with that left hand, it's always ready to be thrown in anger.

David Brophy has a defensive stance, gloves high, he looks set to try to soak it up a bit. Good luck with that...

    Groves v Brophy

David Brophy raises his hand as his name is read, he's never lost this 25-year-old, 16 wins and a draw to be precise.

He's never faces this level of class though and George Groves - a Chelsea fan - gets his name called as Jose Mourinho watches on ringside.

"Good luck to you both, touch gloves," says the referee.

    Groves v Brophy

Into the ring steps David Brophy, George Groves would be some scalp for him.

I almost feel for Groves, his fights with Carl Froch were captivating and boy was he close to taking the Cobra out on one occasion. Then he suffered a split-decision loss to Badou Jack for the WBC super-middleweight title, so where does he go from here.

He enters the ring, fist raised to salute the masses.

We move on to George Groves, a man who has fought for a world title not once, not twice but three times.

Scotland's David Brophy in his way tonight as Groves tries to continue his rebuild if he is to get another tilt at a title he has already been close to wining.

Conor Benn, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office: "I'm gobsmacked. It's something which will stay with me until I die - the reception I got was brilliant. I'm going to be a three-time world champion. I can't just be two-time, can I?!"

Nigel Benn adds: "My heart was going like the clappers, but now you've seen what he's got in store. He likes to fight like me. I'm happy - I'm going back to Australia now. I can't take this anymore. I'm going to leave it to Eddie Hearn."
