Round 1: Kal Yafai v Suguru Muranaka

A great start from the British world champion as Kal Yafai lands at will with a number of uppercuts and body shots in the opening three minutes.

Suguru Muranaka soaks up the punches, well, he doesn't have much choice, but it is already looking like a tough night for the Japanese fighter.

  4. Who is Kal Yafai?published at 22:30 British Summer Time 13 May 2017

    Kal Yafai v Suguru Maranaka

Khalid 'Kal' Yafai is the unbeaten WBA super-flyweight champion.

In December, the 27-year-old became Birmingham's first world champion when he beat Panama's Luis Concepcion

His high tempo and exciting style has seen seen him score 14 knockouts in 21 wins.

He has high aspirations and wants to unify the division.

He has two younger brothers who are also in the fight game. Gamal, 25, is a pro who has racked up 12 wins out 12. Then there's Galal, 24,who represented Great Britain at the Rio Olympics.

The three of them will often spar against each other during training - which is one way of settling sibling arguments.

  6. Ward beats Dickens with technical decisionpublished at 22:26 British Summer Time 13 May 2017

James Dickens v Thomas Patrick Ward

Staying in Leeds, and Durham's Thomas Patrick Ward has caused somewhat of an upset by beating Liverpool's James 'Jazza' Dickens via a technical decision and winning the British bantamweight belt.

The fight was stopped after an accidental clash of heads left Ward with a bad cut in round nine.

With blood running into his left eye, the result went to the judges' scorecards. All three were in favour of Ward.

In what was a close fight early on, with tight rounds that could have been scored either way, Ward started to control the fight from round three onwards. The unbeaten Ward was slick in using his footwork and staying out of range of Dickens' counter-punches.

It was an unfortunate end to a fight as Dickens was looking as if he could mount a comeback.

Despite the cut, Ward can take some family pride out of the win, having avenged his brother Martin's defeat to Dickens in November 2015,

Dickens has now lost two in a row, his last outing was against pound-for-pound star Guillermo Rigondeaux from Cuba - a bout he lost via a sixth round stoppage.

  7. Leeds 'predicts a riot'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 13 May 2017

    Josh Warrington v Kiko Martinez

Josh Warrington won't be short of support tonight.

The fighter has adopted Kaiser Chiefs' "I predict a riot" as his entrance song and, if previous fights in the First Direct Arena are anything to go by, you can expect a boisterous Leeds crowd to be singing along in full force.

Warrington is a huge Leeds United fan and in the past has been accompanied to the ring by ex-players of the club, including Vinnie Jones.

I wonder which Leeds legend will join him on the ring walk this evening?

Sam Eggington beats Ceferino Rodriguez to win European Welterweight title

New European Welterweight Champion Sam Eggington tells Sky Sports: "It was a very messy fight, he was not the biggest of punchers but he was very crisp and he caught me nicely."

Promoter Barry Hearn then talks up the possibility of a fight with American Danny Garcia in Las Vegas. Garcia, 29, is a former WBA and WBC welterweight champion.

Sam Eggington beats Ceferino Rodriguez to become European Welterweight Champion

There was some concern for Ceferino Rodriguez after that brutal knockout as it took him a while to get off the canvas, needing medical attention.

But, thankfully, Rodriguez now seems OK. He was able to sit down on a chair, and then get to his feet before Sam Eggington was announced as the winner.

  11. Sam Eggington wins the European Welterweight titlepublished at 22:08 British Summer Time 13 May 2017

    What a way to finish.

Sam Eggington looked in trouble in the early stages of the fight, before it swung in his favour in a brutal seventh round.

Eggington had success in the eighth, before it was all over in the 10th.

A brutal flurry of punches dumps former reigning champion Ceferino Rodriguez through the ropes, with the Spaniard knocked out, outside of the ring. Right uppercut, left, right, left and Rodriguez's days of being the champion are over.

    Ceferino Rodriguez v Sam Eggington

Eggington nearly got the job done in the seventh, and lands with a cracking right hook in the later part of the eighth.

But the current champion, Ceferino Rodriguez of Spain, has had a bit of time to recover.

Four rounds to go in that one. Will it go to the judges' scorecards to decide the fate of the European Welterweight Championship?

    Ceferino Rodriguez v Sam Eggington

After round five, Sam Eggington is told his opponent Ceferino Rodriguez "will wilt".

Well, so far it is into round seven, and it is turning brutal.

Both have just taken huge shots in the seventh. Great stuff. Rodriguez's European Welterweight Championship is up for grabs.

It is still going on after Eggington went for the finish in the seventh. The European title is close, so close to the home fighter.

Promoter Eddie Hearn calls it a "war" in a tweet.

  15. Team Yafai 1-0 on the nightpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 13 May 2017

Gamal Yafai beats Sean Davis with seventh-round stoppage

Later tonight we will see Kal Yafai defend his WBA super-flyweight title, but the star of the undercard was younger brother Gamal Yafai.

Bantamweight Yafai showed real quality as he floored fellow Brummie Sean Davis six times before referee Ian John Lewis stopped the fight.

Yafai started strong then Davis may have just edged a close second round to make it one apiece. A textbook right to the body floored Davis in the third. Yafai continued to knockdown his opponent at regular intervals and worked both the body and head superbly.

The referee had no choice but to stop the fight.

Yafai is now the new WBC international bantamweight champion.

Now go take your ringside seat lad and see if older brother Kal do the business.

Rounds 1-3 - Ceferino Rodriguez v Sam Eggington

In the ring now is Birmingham's Sam Eggington as he challenges Spain's Ceferino Rodriguez for the European welterweight title.

Eggington, with tattoos up his right arm and across his chest, looks big at the weight as he comes on strong at the end of the first round.

He continues to control the fight in the second, coming forward and unleashing a flurry of shots to head and body, some of which seem to hurt his opponent.

More of the same in the third from Eggington. Rodriguez smiles as if to say 'that didn't hurt' - which we know is a sign that he is actually feeling it.

Dominant performance so far in front of his home crowd from Eggington.

Who is your favourite current British boxer and why?

David Martin‏: Tyson Fury's win is still the best by a British boxer. Better than Anthony Joshua's as Wlad was unbeaten in over 10 years when they fought.

S: I like the look of Ohara Davies.

David Hill: Anthony Joshua. Best of luck to Stourbridge's Sam Eggington in his attempt at the European Welterweight title in Brum tonight.
