Ryan Burnett v Yonfrez Parejo (WBA bantamweight championship)

WBA bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett's record is a perfect one. Eighteen wins from eighteen fights, while the man trying to take his title, Yonfrez Parejo from Venezuela, has lost twice and drawn once in a 24-fight professional career.

Burnett claimed this belt in October with a win over Zhanat Zhakiyanov and this will be only the second time Parejo has fought in Europe.

    Ahmad: Definitely AJ.

Sam Overton: Prince Naseem. Should have achieved so much more but what an entertainer.

Paul: So many to choose from. Bruno, Benn, Hatton, Honeyghan, Graham, Groves but for me it has to be Lennox Lewis.

  5. The carnage of AJ...published at 20:25 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

I grew up in these parts and so I’ve seen the carnage of a Welsh rugby night in Cardiff, or an FA Cup final.

Few events if any finish as late at this will in this stadium. So the operation is intense, from policing to stewarding.

I can say safely that the aftermath of Anthony Joshua’s October win over Carlos Takam was like nothing I’d seen in this city before. Lines for taxis stretched forever, many gave up and walked, while the litter and general scene of madness was incredible.

And yet people love it. Take Russell and Alicia from Burton On Trent- first timers at the boxing. They can’t wait.

Russell opts for AJ in seven, Alicia six. If either is right, the other is buying a late supper. That’s if the queues aren’t too big of course.

  6. Crolla winspublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

Anthony Crolla beats Edson Ramirez on points

It is a unanimous points win for Anthony Crolla. The scores are 100-91, 100-90, 98-92 and it is job done, despite some anxious moments with a bad cut over his right eye.

Still, he does enough to win it, and win it well with one judge giving him all 10 rounds, another says Crolla by nine and the third judge says Crolla by six.

Who does boxing royalty lunch with when in Cardiff?

Welsh sporting royalty, of course - in the shape of former 110m hurdles world record holder Colin Jackson.

"Don't be Mr Macho in there, use your brain," says trainer Joe Gallagher to Anthony Crolla as we go into the 10th and final round.

Crolla is well ahead on points, and despite being bothered by a bad cut early on, is heading for a win unless something shocking happens.

  9. Boxer Cordina wins first title in home townpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

Joe Cordina beats Hakim Ben Ali in three rounds

Welsh boxer Joe Cordina says he "could not ask for more" after winning his first title in his home town.

Fighting on the Anthony Joshua undercard, he beat Belgian Hakim Ben Ali to claim the World Boxing Association International Lightweight title.

He said he had "a great reception" in Cardiff's Principality Stadium and you can watch his interview with BBC Wales below.

Some boxing royalty is there in Cardiff. Sugar Ray Leonard, who was the undisputed welterweight champion in the early 1980s, is sitting ringside.

A knowledgeable crowd give the legend the reception he deserves when he is shown on the big screens.

The biggest reaction from an increasingly raucous Principality Stadium?

Not Joe Cordina's hometown return, not Josh Kelly's great win, not Anthony Crolla's ovation.

The biggest cheer of the night by far was when Anthony Joshua's arrival was shown on the big screen. The place went bonkers.

If you haven’t attended a big boxing bout, I’d recommend it. The whole picture, the energy, the music, it’s hard to beat.

As Anthony Joshua is shown arriving on the big screens, we get a huge roar. When the main event comes, it will be raucous in here.

  13. Joshua arrivespublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

A huge cheer rings around the Principality Stadium as pictures of Anthony Joshua arriving are shown on the big screens. Both men are here. There wasn't any real doubt that they wouldn't turn up.

Remember, we are expecting the ring walks for the main event around 10:30pm, although it could be a bit earlier if we get some early finishes.

    Anthony Crolla v Edson Ramirez

Crolla, using the jab nicely, is moving well ahead on the scorecards, but the Mexican is still in there and still a threat, although he has been twice warned for punching a bit too south of the target.

Once more and that could be a point off.

We are into round seven of 10. The doctor has checked out Crolla's cut just above the right eye. But if it goes to the cards at the moment, Crolla would be picking up the victory.

“We will be back here in three months with Joseph Parker as champion to see the rematch.”

Neil, Callum Dave and Billy have flown in from Auckland to support their countryman.

They feel Parker will defy the odds.

Remember, he has never been put on his back as a professional or an amateur. That’s some resistance and from what I’ve observed in the six months in which we have dealt with his team, it’s the foundation of their hope.

Now the last time Anthony Joshua fought in Cardiff, it was the winter. However, with no heating this time around the stadium is considerably colder for those in attendance.

Spare a thought for our friends from New Zealand, they've just finished their summer. That might explain why I've spotted a Kiwi journalist wheeling a portable radiator through the Principality Stadium.

  17. 'You can do this big man'published at 20:02 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

    Alexander Povetkin v David Price

It is a big night for Anthony Crolla, Ryan Burnett, David Price and Anthony Joshua.

David Price is in action as the chief support as he faces former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin.

Price has been getting a pep talk from another Liverpool boxer who knows about big nights.

One thing that builds with every Anthony Joshua fight is the merchandising. You see more stalls, more products and to be fair, more people wanting stuff. Also, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been told an item is a “limited edition.”

From gloves to robes, it’s all on offer.

    Anthony Crolla v Edson Ramirez

The blood keeps dripping around the right eye of Anthony Crolla and he may be looking to get rid of his Mexican opponent before the cut gets too bad.

Remember, Crolla is hoping to force his way into world title contention and a shock defeat here, no matter the circumstances, would be a massive setback for him.

Four rounds gone out of a scheduled 10, and Crolla looks to be ahead on the scorecards, despite that cut.

  20. First titles for Kelly and Cordinapublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

    Undercard action

    Michael Pearlman
BBC Wales Sport at the Principality Stadium

Sunderland's Josh Kelly and Cardiff's own Joe Cordina have both earned the first professional titles of their short careers tonight on the undercard.

Kelly has only had six fights but the Olympian is already being tipped for world title honours and impressed against former Mexican world champion Carlos Molina.

Kelly took a unanimous points decision and has again caught the eye.

Cordina was too sharp for Hakim Ben Ali and stopped him in three rounds to claim the WBA international lightweight championship, much to the pleasure of his hometown fans.
