We wondered if there was going to be 12 rounds in the legs of the Russian. But the worst of the damage has been done to Hughie Fury.

There is clear blood by the left eye of Hughie Fury who switches to the southpaw stance. Alexander Povetkin is charging after his man.

  5. Round 9published at 22:00 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

With three rounds to go this is very close. Povetkin has found an inner reserve of energy and is keeping up the aggressive approach. He just misses with a left hook, Fury counters with a couple jabs. Both land some good shots but that might be another round to Povetkin...

Alexander Povetkin is looking a lot more active and targeting the body a lot more. The tide may have turned. That wasn’t a great round for Hughie Fury. He needs to tie Povetkin up when he gets close.

Hughie Fury is going to have to increase his work rate and score with some solid shots. Alexander Povetkin is working away in this round. The Russian is on the charge.

Hughie Fury was definitely hurt. I could see it and Alexander Povetkin could also see it. This is the first time I’ve given Povetkin two rounds in a row.

  9. Round 8published at 21:56 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

Povetkin is tiring but perhaps not quite as much as many predicted at this stage of the fight.

He's still closing in and he lands a powerful left hook that clearly hurts Fury. Povetkin's round.

A huge night for Hughie Fury. He thought he deserved to win a WBO world title when he lost to Joseph Parker on points back in September 2017.

A win here and he is right back at the top of the heavyweight picture.

All of our 5 Live team - Mike Costello, Steve Bunce and Carl Frampton had Fury ahead at the five-round mark. Two rounds later Frampton says Povetkin has edged ahead, while Bunce says the Briton is still in front, only just.

Questions among the press ranks concern who has the most stamina. This is going to be so close so who will end it the stronger and get their arm raised?

There was a worrying moment with about 50 seconds left in that round when there was little jump in Alexander Povetkin’s step that he thought Hughie Fury was hurt.

  12. Round 7published at 21:53 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

Povetkin is visibly tiring but is still capable of some quite devastating bursts as he lands a nice right hand towards the end of the round.

There's no snap or zip to Hughie Fury's punches at the moment.

I think Hughie Fury took a bit of a breather in that round so that he can show the vintage Fury later on. But he can’t let Povetkin smell blood. If he does that he'll be all over him.

Alexander Povetkin does not look to have more than 20-30 seconds bursts in him the more this fight goes on.

Very scrappy round but I’d give that to Alexander Povetkin for coming forward. Hughie Fury is also starting to look a bit tired.

  17. Round 6published at 21:49 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

A round of nearlys as both fighters just fail to land some punches.

Fury's movement is quick once again before he gets in a body shot before the bell. Good round for the Brit as we hit the halfway stage of the fight.

Huge cheers in the O2 Arena as the crowd are shown footage of Vasyl Lomachenko getting his hands wrapped backstage. It’s already been a dramatic night, what will happen later on?
