    Round eight

Kubrat Pulev is going to have to just go for it and hope he strikes gold. Of course, by doing so he leaves himself open to the Joshua counters.

But the Joshua jab does the job in the eighth to blunt the Bulgarian.

    Round eight

Kubrat Pulev tries some back-to-back left jabs while moving forward. No joy. Both miss.

Pulev landed with a terrific right hand at the end of the seventh round. Joshua seems untroubled by it.

I'm surprised Joshua has not stuck with the range he clearly found in the third round.

    Round eight

Kubrat Pulev is still very much in this fight and that is very surprising considering the battering he took in the third. This fight is still very much a live one.

By no means is this job done for AJ so far.

Sean Sutton: A few minutes ago, this was all over. I'm not sure it is now. AJ still ahead, but he needs to finish this.

It's a strange round. Joshua is letting Pulev back into the fight and being caught with punches he shouldn't be.

Pulev is trying to draw Joshua into his kind of fight.

    Round seven

The Joshua uppercut is a thing of beauty. He's now unloading with another few. Feet planted and swinging from the hip. That would've finished off many fighters, Pulev is still there though. Great chin.

  15. 'Too negative'published at 23:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Dillian Whyte
Former British heavyweight champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

He should take the fight to Pulev. Joshua is being too negative. I don't know why he is doing that.

    Round seven

A huge cheer from the fans, only 1,000, but sounding like many more, as Joshua lands in the first few seconds of the seventh.

  17. Ring-rust?published at 23:17 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Steve Bunce
Boxing pundit on BBC Radio 5 Live

I dismissed ring-rust as being a factor. Tonight there are moments when Joshua looks like he is struggling to find his range. He should look far more confident than this.

    Round six

Pulev comes forward with an attempted right-left. Both miss and, luckily for him, Joshua also fails to connect with another uppercut. Pulev is at least asking questions. If he is going to go out, he's going to go out swinging.

Another exchange of stares / smiles at the end of the sixth.

    Round six

Some good dancing forward from Joshua with a wide stance. He springs forward and one to the head, springs back, springs forward and one to the body of Pulev. Lovely work from AJ.

  20. 'Pulev hasn't won a round'published at 23:14 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Steve Bunce
Boxing pundit on BBC Radio 5 Live

"Be smart, don't go following in." Sensible advice. Pulev landed a left and right - he hasn't won a round but he is looking confident. There is something in the air tonight.
