It was a better round for Smith. I still don't think he won the round. He seems to be pulling his right hands. I think Canelo is looking for an upper cut, I think he is trying to finish this fight. I don't think he fancies 12 rounds.
Alvarez v Smith
A right hand to the body from Canelo halfway through this sixth. He backs his rival up and throws another wild right hand, this time to the face.
Smith jabs, throws a right hand and jabs again... Canelo slips all of them. He's proving hard to hit. A double jab from the Briton again misses the target. Canelo is in third gear right now but it's enough.
It's giving him control and just driving him clear of the man sharing the ring with him.

One of the stars of women's boxing....

Seems like Joe Gallagher (Smith's trainer) feels like it is Canelo that needs to do the work. I've got Smith just losing each round. With a bit more authority he could have nicked some.
Alvarez v Smith

Alvarez v Smith
A little more work from Smith late in the fifth as he pings home a right hand. Again Canelo just steps forward though and pings a jab to Smith's face.
It's not relentless pressure from Canelo but it's just constant. He's not smothering or jumping on Smith, he's just always there, edging forward time and again.
Callum Smith's family are clapping and shouting "better" as that round ends. No doubt he was a bit more on it there.
Alvarez v Smith
George Groves tells BBC Radio 5 Live Canelo is getting the "better and neater work".
Callum Smith maybe needs to take a little more risk and land something that can at least make Canelo take a backward step. He hasn't taken one yet all night.
A fine left hook from Canelo on the counter. Smith stepped in and got tagged there, beautifully timed.

I feel like Alvarez is picking up these rounds. He's getting the better work in. It feels like there is still apprehension from Smith. He's not letting his hands go. Alvarez is stalking Smith. So far it's one-way traffic on my scorecards.
Alvarez v Smith
The stats provided by DAZN show Canelo has landed more in these opening four.
Smith is not troubled in terms of damage at all but he is certainly finding this tricky from a tactical perspective. A fine on-two from Canelo gets home in the final minute of the round.
Smith has his back to the ropes again. He steps out and is trying to remain poised to his credit. This is a tough, tough assignment. He has to solve what's in front of him soon as these rounds are ticking away.
Right now I've got it 4-0 Canelo, 3-1 at best.
Alvarez v Smith
Canelo steps in and throws a wild left hook. Suddenly he looks menacing and Smith is backed to the ropes again.
Beware, beware, Canelo fancies this.

I've got Canelo three up. We need to see Smith relax a bit more and let the jab go with more power. Why isn't he letting the jab go with power?
Alvarez v Smith
Two stiff jabs from Canelo and they get home. He has not stopped walking forward. Smith pings a short right hand home which catches the guard.
Canelo winning the chess match so far for me but it's timid. One punch could turn it without a doubt.
Alvarez v Smith
A decent jab from Smith earl in the third. He's having to punch down remember and Canelo is moving his head well too.
They fight up close for the first time and Smith throws an uppercut which misses. Three shots from Smith, left-right-left, all taken on the gloves.
Some 90 seconds gone in the round. This is a little better by Smith but you feel he is trying to solve a riddle and hasn't figured out a way yet. Not by a long chalk.

I gave that round to Alvarez. He's pressuring the fight and he landed more in that round for me. Smith needs to get Alvarez to come away from that crab-like defence.
Alvarez v Smith
Canelo backs Smith to the ropes and throws two body shots. Smith's elbows are glued to his side to block them but they were vicious. That mini attack came off a stiff jab from Canelo and so far his timing has been good.
They touch gloves at the bell. Has Canelo broken the British fighter's heart early on with this smart - if not too brutal - work.
Alvarez v Smith
Smith is throwing but Canelo looks quite sharp, moving nicely on his feet. The Mexican - in red shorts - pings home a body shot early in the second.
He's moving well, ducking, slipping and creeping forward to close that distance.
A lot has been made about the size difference but Canelo knows his way around.

This is a much bigger night for Smith, there's probably a few more nerves. Canelo looked comfortable.
Alvarez v Smith
Canelo applying the pressure, trying to inch forward bit by bit. Smith throwing with limited success so far but this will be a close round. I've got Canelo nicking it.
Smith maybe needs one to shake a few nerves off. They head back to their corners.
Close. I'll say 1-0 Canelo.
Alvarez v Smith
A feeling out process in the opening moments.
Canelo is bobbing and weaving trying to get that bit closer to his taller rival. A jab catches Smith's glove.
Smith tries a right hand to the body but Canelo steps back expertly. A good jab and right to the body from the Mexican.
