It was a tight round. I thought Lopez did just enough to nick that round.

Warrington was always going to come flying out with straight punches and now he knows how Lopez will react to that.

Warrington flew out the traps, but that left him a little open which suited Lopez.

The Leeds Warrior will have to box cleverer now.

Warrington immediately moves into the centre, and launches some early jabs which catch Lopez slightly unaware.

Warrington is keen to carry the momentum from the crowd here early, but Lopez is an offensive fighter and gets on the front foot quickly.

It's a lively one already, both men swinging early. Lopez is a little wild but he does catch Warrington a couple of times.

The Mexican has made the home favourite think here. And he has made him bleed, claret coming from the nose!

Much to think about for Warrington.

Everyone's eyes were transfixed on Josh Warrington as he made his ringwalk but Luis Alberto Lopez was in his own world, bouncing around the ring as Marching On Together played.

Lopez is doing his best to not let this lively atmosphere affect him, but it must be tough.

IBF Featherweight title on the line, we are almost ready to begin.

If nothing else, it should hopefully be closer than Fury v Chisora 3, but we shall see.

There is always a big Leeds United presence whenever Warrington is fighting, both in the crowd and in the ring.

Back in March, Warrington was joined for his ring walk by Leeds defender Luke Ayling and this time he was supposed to be joined by the Premier League side’s Crysencio Summerville.

However, Summerville was injured in a friendly with Elche in Spain on Thursday, meaning he has been replaced tonight by Leeds skipper Liam Cooper.

    Now, here comes Warrington.

A VT is being played first, in which he says "the dream may be over" for England, but fighters must always overcome "doubters" to succeed.

Imagine he'd recorded one for if England won too.

Lopez has just completed his ringwalk, clad all in black and gold.

He performs a high roundhouse kick as he enters the ring, and looks supremely unbothered by the partisan Leeds crowd.

Josh Warrington v Luis Alberto Lopez

Warrington weighed in heavier than Lopez on Saturday.

Home favourite Warrington came in at 8st 13lbs. Mexican Lopez, 29, weighed 8st 12lbs as he looks to upset the 32-year-old in front of an expected crowd of 9,000.

Words were exchanged in a feisty face-off, with both Warrington and Lopez looking supremely confident.

IBF bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges tells BBC Radio 5 Live Sport Extra: "I thought it was a great performance tonight. She can punch harder than anyone I've been in there with.

"It was a bit of a battle of the toughest and I came back tougher. If I was scared of getting hurt, I couldn't box. When you get hit you come back harder and that's what I did.

"I want to unify the division. I want to be the only bantamweight champion in the world.

On rivalry with Shannon O'Connell: "The beef isn't buried, she still doesn't have respect for me."

  17. 'Glass jaw' Josh?published at 22:40 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

Josh Warrington v Luis Alberto Lopez

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Leeds Arena

Warrington is the favourite to secure the win and retain his title tonight but Lopez has looked confident this week of causing an upset.

If he is to do just that then expect him to focus on hitting Warrington’s jaw, which the Leeds fighter broke when he reclaimed the belt with his victory over Kiko Martinez back in March.

Warrington hasn’t fought since as he recuperated and admitted it took him a while to feel comfortable just to eat steak again, so if Lopez can hurt him there early it could give him a psychological advantage.

  18. Lopez: I'm not leaving without the beltpublished at 22:38 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

Josh Warrington v Luis Alberto Lopez

Speaking during Thursday's pre-fight news conference, a confident Lopez told Warrington that he would not be leaving without his belt.

The 29-year-old Mexican earned his shot at the title by stopping stopping Isaac Lowe in an eliminator clash in London in December last year.

"I always come here as a warrior for war and I won't be going home without that world title," he said.

"I come here full of capabilities and confident in my preparation. I am coming for the knockout."

  20. Last tango in Leeds?published at 22:35 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

Josh Warrington v Luis Alberto Lopez

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Leeds Arena

Leeds Arena is very much a second home for Warrington with tonight’s fight the 12th time the ‘Leeds Warrior’ has appeared at the venue. One way or the other it could be his last, too.

Warrington has made no secret of his desire to take his fans on the road, with the aim of securing a fight in America and that door will be very much open with a win, but a defeat could prompt him to call time on his career.

Having suffered a shock loss to then little-known Mexican Mauricio Lara back in February 2021, Warrington took a big step towards reviving his career by beating Kiko Martinez at this venue in March to regain the IBF featherweight title, so to lose that now would be a significant blow.
