  1. Predictions - 'Usyk is too skilled'published at 22:22 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

Dubois' former trainer Shane McGuigan: "Dubois has to approach this fight like a four-round contest, like Mike Tyson used to approach most of his fights. If it goes past four rounds then we have to find out what plan B is about and learn to get through it.

"But they have to have the mindset 'If I clip or touch you, you're going to sleep' - so you have to let your hands go in combinations, not let them set on the jab, and really stick it on Usyk. He's definitely got a puncher's chance, for sure."

Unified light-middleweight champion Natasha Jonas: "Unfortunately I will have to say Usyk. I just think he's too skilled for Dubois at this point. But hats off to him for stepping up."

Former world featherweight champion Kid Galahad: "I'm going with Usyk. He has the tools to win widely and decisively. A sharp, complete and brilliant fighter. But this is heavyweight boxing and one punch can change any contest."

It seems like we've been talking about a historic undisputed heavyweight fight between WBA (Super), WBO and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury for an age.

Olympic gold medallist and former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk is undefeated in 20 professional fights.

Fury has won 33 fights with one draw since turning professional in 2008.

A mega-fight between the pair is still some way down the road with Fury set to take on former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a non-title fight on 28 October.

Talks broke down between the two fighters' respective camps earlier this year but there is hope they could still come to blows in 2024.

"It's our obligation to deliver this fight," Usyk's promoter Alexander Krassyuk said.

"The whole world wants to see this fight. Not just ourselves or people involved in boxing, but the whole world.

"People who know nothing about boxing would love to see the heavyweight undisputed fight for the four belts for the first time in the four-belt era.

"I can promise you and promise all the fans around the world that I will do everything that can depend on me to make this fight happen."

  3. Fury next for winner?published at 22:19 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

As you might expect, a fella from Morecambe’s name has kept cropping up in Wroclaw this week.

You will struggle to find one boxing fan who doesn’t want to see Tyson Fury – who holds the WBC belt – face Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed clash.

Never has a heavyweight held the IBF, WBA ‘Super', WBC and WBO belts at one time.

The fight nearly happened in April at Wembley Stadium, before talks stalled. Should Usyk win, that has to take place next year otherwise boxing is at risk of completely alienating so many of its followers.

If Dubois does the improbable, well you can just rip up the script. There is no rematch clause and Dubois and Fury are both signed to the same promoter, Frank Warren.

Then there really is no excuse.

Daniel Dubois was at his lightest for six years but still weighed almost a stone heavier than champion Oleksandr Usyk on Friday.

Dubois hit the scales at 16st 9lb, with Ukrainian Usyk weighing 15st 10lb.

When questioned on the weight difference, Usyk replied: "For me it doesn't matter. I'm a boxer. Maybe I'm not heavy like Daniel but I have [something] different. I have heart."

Mark: Predicting not only a classy showing from Usyk but a devastating showing. Usyk to take Dubois a part and get the stoppage. Too big a task for Daniel.

  6. Predictions - 'Rooting for Dubois'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

Former world lightweight champion Anthony Crolla: "You have to give Dubois a puncher's chance but it's probably hard to look past any more than that. Going on recent form, Usyk has been looking really good and Dubois struggled last time out against Kevin Lerena.

"The movement is going to be a big problem. If Dubois is to pull off a big upset, which is exactly what it will be, he has to land early to get the respect off Usyk. I believe Dubois is a confidence fighter - he has to have a good start to have any chance of winning it."

Former world light-middleweight champion Hannah Rankin: "I'm going with Usyk on points. I think he's settling to the bigger weight and technically he's brilliant."

Heavyweight contender Frazer Clarke: "I'm definitely rooting for Dubois and if he does land a big shot it could finish anyone in world boxing. But I have to put Usyk as the strong favourite. Look at what he's done in his career, who he's beat, how he boxes and how good he is. I'm his biggest fan. I'd say Usyk late stoppage, just by accumulation."

BBC Radio 5 Live boxing analyst Steve Bunce: "Dubois has got a better boxing brain than people give him credit for and I can paint a case for him winning.

"But let's get this right - it will be a massive shock if he does return to the United Kingdom as unified heavyweight world champion. It will be up there with Lloyd Honeyghan beating Donald Curry nearly 37 years ago."

Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk won his first world title in Poland as an away fighter against Krzysztof Glowacki in 2016.

That was the one and only time he's fought on Polish soil but he'll have no shortage of support this time around.

Around 40,000 fans are expected to be at the open-air Tarczynski Arena, which hosted three football matches during Euro 2012.

The majority of those in attendance are expected to be Ukrainians residing in Poland.

Approximately 1.5m Ukrainians have fled to Poland since the Russia's invasion began in 2022.

Usyk, as always, was in good spirits during fight week, treating many of his compatriots who turned up for the public workout to juggling, dancing and even a bit of rapping.

"My preparation is all good," Usyk said.

"We did a lot of work. We played football, we danced."

  8. 'I want to hurt people'published at 22:10 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Hamed beats Hrdy by TKO

Aadam Hamed spoke to TNT Sports after his TKO win over Vojtech Hrdy: "It was my first fight ever, not just my pro debut. It was a blessing to be here. What a night. I felt like I put on a performance.

"I felt like my style suited the pros a lot more. I want to hurt people as you saw tonight.

"They're always going to say what they want. I need to believe in me and my ability.

"I'm very passionate about this game. I don't look at it like a game. I'm here to take over, remember that.

"Big respect to everyone for coming out, it's a really big show. I hope I performed in front of everyone. Big respect."

  9. Still doubters on heavyweight Usykpublished at 22:09 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Kal Sajad
BBC Sport at Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw

Usyk is an Olympic gold medallist, a two-weight world champion, former undisputed champion. Make no mistake, he is a future of hall of fame star.

Despite his unified crown, there are some still doubting whether he is an elite heavyweight fighter.

After winning all four belts at cruiserweight, Usyk made the jump up. He wasn’t overly spectacular in his first two fights - wins over Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora.

Back-to-back victories over Anthony Joshua were impressive, but critics would say Joshua is on the slide.

Victory tonight still won’t convince some people, but Usyk can only beat who is in front of him. And Dubois is a bona fide heavyweight, with height, reach and weight advantage, who really can bang.

Aadam Hamed wins his professional debut by TKO in round one.

He has the swagger of his dad, moves well and has a fair bit of speed.

Vojtech Hrdy's corner threw in the towel eventually - it hit the ropes on the first attempt - as he sat back in the corner and covered up under a barrage of shots.

He's not even had an amateur fight but comes from pretty good stock.

No flip over the ropes from Aadam, though he did tease entering the ring in the style made famous by his dad Prince Naseem.

  17. Predictions - 'Usyk is masterful fighter'published at 21:48 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

Mandatory challenger for the IBF world heavyweight title, Filip Hrgovic: "Dubois' experience, skillset and speed is not the same as Usyk's and this is why Usyk is the big favourite. Usyk outboxed Joshua easily, and Joshua is quicker than Dubois.

"Of course you have to give Dubois a puncher's chance - he is a big guy with a good straight right hand. But Usyk is the favourite to win this fight."

Former light-middleweight champion Liam Smith: "I don't think Dubois can do it. I fancy Usyk heavily in that fight. I think he's just too good for Daniel Dubois."

British flyweight Maisey Rose Courtney: "It's a tricky one. Dubois has the one-punch knockout power but Usyk is a masterful fighter. He is unbelievable - in my eyes one of the best ever. If it's a knockout it's Dubois' night. If it goes the distance, Usyk will give him a boxing lesson."

If Daniel Dubois goes in against Oleksandr Usyk thinking all he's got is a puncher's chance, he's got no chance at all.

He will need an awful lot more than a single punch or a couple of punches to beat Usyk.

For Usyk to get hit on the chin and be knocked out at any point in the 12 rounds, you need to hope he has been preparing in a bar on a beach somewhere for the past two months. And we know that isn't the case.

Dubois has got a better boxing brain than people give him credit for and I can paint a case for him winning.
