    Andrew Benson
    BBC F1 correspondent

Aston Martin went out on medium tyres on the final run, Fernando Alonso didn't get a lap time and stayed third and Lance Stroll did get a lap time and got to fourth. There are big upgrades on the Aston Martin, the new floor is the main bit and also an engine cover.

Adrian Newey joined the team in March and admitted in a team interview in his words that he's been having chats over lunch with the team who are doing the 2025 design work on this car, so I wonder if this upgrade package has been influenced by him. Is it a turning point for their season? Let's see how the rest of the session goes.

The problem's going to be that Oliver Bearman is effectively out of the qualifying session right now having finished in the bottom five.

They are about to get Q2 under way and they need to make that decision quickly if they are going to adjust it.
