  2. It's all over! Derry salvage a drawpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-16 Galway 1-13

Well we have just seen the worst and the best from Derry, and the best and the worst from Galway.

It was all Galway in the first half, and they deserved their 1-10 to 0-4 interval lead with Derry going long spells without scoring.

But what a turnaround in the second half as Galway unravelled and they went 24 minutes without a score as Derry, inspired by sub Lachlann Murray, took over.

It looked in the last few minutes like Derry would snatch a dramatic winner but given they were behind for most of this game, they will probably be relieved to get a first league point on the board.

    Reaction to follow later.

Derry won the kickout and kept possession until Ethan Doherty's shot is partially blocked down.

Derry super sub Lachlann Murray - what an impact he's made - wins a free and McGuigan converts it.

Level game with 90 seconds to go.

    Derry 0-15 Galway 1-13

McGuigan makes it 0-6 from him in this half with another point.

Galway unravelling here. They keep giving the ball away and Derry are hunting for the equaliser.

    Derry 0-14 Galway 1-13

Galway are punished for taking their time with Gough taking no nonsence.

    McGuigan nails the free.

    Four minutes left.

    Derry 0-13 Galway 1-13

A loud cheer as Padraig McGrogan comes on to end his long injury lay-off.

How Derry have missed him. Hopefully his injury problems are over for 2025.

    Derry 0-13 Galway 1-13

Lachlann Murray again. His third since coming on.

A good response to the Walsh two-pointer.

  9. Postpublished at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-12 Galway 1-13

A free is brought forward due to Derry dissent and Shane Walsh bravely brings it back outside the two-point arc - and nails it!

That was Galway's first time to trouble the scoreboard in 24 minutes.

    Eight minutes left.

    Derry 0-12 Galway 1-11

Lachlann Murray with a fine score at the other end.

He's done well since he's come on.

  11. Postpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-11 Galway 1-11

Wide from Shane Walsh when Galway really could have done with a settling score.

Derry are putting all sorts of pressure on now.

  12. Class from Glass!published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-11 Galway 1-11

There is no doubt about that score as Conor Glass splits the posts superbly.

Since McGuigan's two-point free four minutes ago, Derry have come alive. They've hit 0-5 without reply in those four minutes.

    Derry 0-10 Galway 1-11

McGuigan points from the left as Derry sense Galway have lost their way.

It's been all Derry in the last few minutes and they're playing with a lot more urgency.

  14. Postpublished at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-9 Galway 1-11

Lachlann Murray's point looked wide but it is given and suddenly the home fans find their voice.

  15. Postpublished at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-8 Galway 1-11

Well taken by McGuigan. Derry's first two-pointer of the evening from a free.

A few more of those and they'll be right back in it. Easier said than done, mind you.

    20 minutes to go.

  16. Postpublished at 18:10 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-6 Galway 1-11

Second Galway sub - Johnny Heaney comes on for Finnian O Laoi.

Paul Cassidy, who was Derry's go-to man in the first half, does all the hard work but his shot tails wide.

However Derry win a free (maybe for Galway not leaving three men up??) and McGuigan has elected to take it outside the two-point arc. God knows Derry need every point they can get.

  17. Postpublished at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-6 Galway 1-11

Galway are drawing the sting out of the game by slowing the game down.

We've had no score in six minutes as the intensity drains out of the contest.

  18. Postpublished at 18:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-6 Galway 1-11

A sub on both teams. Lachlann Murray replaces Ben McCarron and Rob Finnerty is on for O Curraoin.

That as Galway 'keeper Connor Gleeson comes forward and hits a wide.

  19. What a block!published at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-6 Galway 1-11

Derry goalie McNicholl is allowed to burst forward unchallenged. He cuts in and his shot is bound for the net but John Daly is there to somehow turn it over the bar.

  20. Postpublished at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry 0-5 Galway 1-11

Cein Darcy fists the ball over after a protracted Galway attack.

They probably could have finished that move earlier than they did.
