Shane McGuigan scores a Derry point after just over a minute played.

A nice one to boost the confidence early on. John Daly is picking McGuigan up in these early stages.

    Derry 0-0 Galway 0-0

We are underway in Celtic Park.

The stand is almost full and a decent crowd in to see if 2024 champions Derry can get their first league points of the year on the board.

The wind may not be as big a factor as it has been in some games since the new rules came in, so it will be interesting to see if the players are tempted into going for as many two-point attempts. For now, the wind appears to be blowing across the pitch but any advantage there is, Galway have it in this first half.

  3. Derry host Galway in key Division One gamepublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry v Galway (17:00 GMT)

After the rather late cruel home defeat by Kerry two weeks ago, it may not get any easier for Derry when they are back at Celtic Park for this evening's crunch Allianz Football League Division One game against Galway (17:00 GMT).

Judging on their League form thus far, the Tribesmen have recovered from the trauma of last July's All-Ireland Final heartbreak against Armagh.

After beating Armagh in the opener at Salthill, Shane Walsh utilised the new rules brilliantly in the 10-point hammering of Mayo in Castlebar last time out as his 0-9 tally included four successful kicks from outside the 40-metre arc.

Cillian O Curraoin also notched three two-point scores and with Paul Conroy capable of pointing from range, it may be a case of Derry 'be warned'.

Galway make two changes from a fortnight ago with John Daly replacing Daniel O'Flaherty in defence and Matthew Tierney in for Cillian McDaid, who is not named in the matchday squad.

Paddy Tally was entitled to take positives from the Kerry game as they controlled much of the contest but conceding five goals is never going to work at any level, let alone inter-county football, so Derry's defending will need to be a lot more assured on Saturday.

At present only Mayo's heavy home by Galway is keeping Derry off bottom spot in Division One.

  4. Watch: Down v Meath on the BBC iPlayerpublished at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

Down v Meath, 18:00 GMT, Pairc Esler

BBC Sport NI's streamed offering over the weekend is Saturday evening's Division Two contest between Down and Meath at Pairc Esler (18:00 BST).

Down regrouped stoutly from their late collapse in Roscommon to snatch a dramatic 1-19 to 2-15 home win over Cork after trailing by seven at half-time.

Meath may not be the force of old but are showing some early promising signs under Robbie Brennan.

The Royal did lose their opener against Cork on a 2-19 to 0-21 scoreline but missed a hatful of goal chances and then did comfortably account for Cavan 3-21 to 0-20 two weeks ago.

Like seemingly all teams since the introduction of the new rules, both sides have been scoring heavily so the BBC viewers will hopefully be in for an entertaining watch on Saturday evening.

  5. One late change for Derrypublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry v Galway (17:00 GMT)

Derry manager Paddy Tally has made one late change to the starting 15 with Ballinascreen's Martin Bradley replacing corner-back Mark Doherty.

It's a like-for-like replacement as both are recognised defenders.

With only three home games this season, and back-to-back trips to Dublin and Donegal to follow tonight's game, this really has a must-win feel to it for Derry, who are pointless after defeats by Tyrone and Kerry.

After conceding five goals here against the Kingdom two weeks ago, Derry will be intent on stopping the flow of majors against last year's All-Ireland runners-up, who have travelled with a fairly strong squad.

Derry: Neil McNicholl; Diarmuid Baker, Eoin McEvoy, Martin Bradley; Conor Doherty, Brendan Rogers, Declan Cassidy; Conor Glass, Anton Tohill; Ciaran McFaul, Paul Cassidy, Ethan Doherty; Ben McCarron, Shane McGuigan, Niall Toner

Subs: Odhran Lynch, Ryan Mulholland, Charlie Diamond, Padraig McGrogan, Mark Doherty, Dan Higgins, Lachlan Murray, Callum McGrogan, Caolan Devlin, Cahir McMonagle, Jody McDermott

Galway: Connor Gleeson; Johnny McGrath, Sean Fitzgerald, Liam Silke; Dylan McHugh, John Daly, Sean Kelly; Paul Conroy, John Maher; Sam O'Neill, Shane Walsh, Cein Darcy; Cillian O Curraoin, Matthew Tierney, Finnian O Laoi

Subs: Conor Flaherty, Jack Glynn, Kieran Molloy, Daniel O'Flaherty, Sean O Maoilchiarain, Jack O'Neill, Cian Herron, Matthew Thompson, Liam O Connaile, Robert Finnerty, Johnny Heaney

  6. Derry denied by Kerry late showpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Derry v Galway (17:00 GMT)

Kerry hit three late goals to snatch a dramatic 5-15 to 1-24 win over Derry in the Allianz Football League Division One contest at Celtic Park.

Derry looked to have sealed the game in the 64th minute as Shane McGuigan riffled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to help them move five ahead.

However, a Paul Geaney goal gave Kerry hope before Donal O'Sullivan and Geaney again netted in the closing moments as a shell-shocked Derry remained without a point in Division One following an opening round defeat by Tyrone.

The Football League returns after a fortnight's break with the Oak Leafers and Down the first Ulster sides in action this weekend.

Derry get us under way at 17:00 GMT with a Celtic Park encounter against last year's All-Ireland finalists Galway.

Paddy Tally's side will be licking their wounds from the last-gasp defeat by Kerry last time out.

Galway top the Division One standings after winning their opening two games while Derry have yet to chalk up a victory and have just Mayo below them.

We'll have text commentary from the top-flight match while our live stream offering this weekend sees Down take on Meath at 18:00.

You can watch the Pairc Esler action unfold as Down look to follow up their win over Cork after starting with a defeat by Roscommon.

Meath also go into the Newry game with one win and one loss although their superior scoring difference leaves them three places above Down.
