It was a good start for McLaren, even with the new regulations it shows they are comfortable with where they are. it wasn't very action-packed. There was one trip to the gravel and Oliver Bearman spinning in FP2. That's really the highlights of it.

Well, not the most memorable day of practice Formula 1 has seen.

Key takeaways are probably that it looks like business as usual for McLaren despite the tightening of flexi-wing regulations, while it appears it could be another weekend of struggle for Ferrari.

When Franco [Colapinto] jumped into the seat, it wasn't be a second off your team-mate, it was probably be a second quicker than your team-mate. It's interesting to see, he did have a problem in the end of FP1, whether that's rolled into FP2 I don't know. It's a substantial way off the pace for him.

It's interesting to see that Lance [Stroll] has got that flow-vis paint. He's really not happy and it looks like the team are struggling to find what's wrong with the car, whether there's a slight imbalance in the chassis or the wings that he's got on. That's something you usually see in FP1 not FP2.

Into the final 10 minutes of the session and McLaren are on their way to topping both of today's practice sessions.

Oscar Piastri was half a second off his team-mate earlier but now it is Lando Norris who is three tenths off.

I'm not seeing any huge curveballs being thrown in this practice session.

Oliver Bearman has finally completed a lap on the soft tryes and he's in P19, not quite what he wanted. His team-mate is only one position ahead.

Haas will be working hard tonight looking at the data, seeing if they can get up there in FP3 tomorrow.

Oliver Bearman is back out and has around 20 minutes to try and make up for lost data gathering time from his spin into the gravel.

Charles Leclerc said Ferrari were in "P-nowhere" after he and Lewis Hamilton qualified 11th and 12th for their home Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in mid-May, and things aren't looking much better for them here.

Leclerc is fifth quickest with Hamilton down in P11.

Bit of a mix of compounds now with Oscar Piastri is back out on mediums while George Russell and Max Verstappen are among those staying on softs.

  15. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 30 May

Oliver Bearman hasn't emerged from the pits since he went into the gravel quite early into the session.

He's the only driver who hasn't had a qualifying run so far in second practice.

Just under 25 minutes remaining and the top five are seperated by half a second:

    1) Piastri

    2) Russell

    3) Verstappen

    4) Norris

    5) Leclerc

Things are not going well so far for Lewis Hamilton as he heads into the pits having only managed the 11th quickest time on the softs.

Good lap by Charles Leclerc as he goes fourth quickest, but he's two tenths off George Russell's time.

Championship leader Oscar Piastri, on the soft tyre now, is on a quick lap...
