Summary

  1. 'Derry have been very wasteful'published at 18:20 British Summer Time 18 May

    HT: Galway 0-8 Derry 0-6

    Paddy Andrews
    Former Dublin forward on GAAGO

The big play from the first half is obviously [Gareth] McKinless getting sent off. He's such a pivotal player for Derry.

The game has probably swung in Galway's favour. Galway are really good, on the front foot, really direct and they are getting some joy from that.

Derry have been very wasteful in front of the posts. It was probably a similar story against Donegal.

    London 0-2 Down 0-4

  3. Mayo cruising in Castlebarpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 18 May

    Mayo 0-16 Cavan 0-7

After Conor Loftus and Oisin Brady trade scores, a fifth Ryan O'Donoghue point puts Mayo eight up in Castlebar before Darren McHale stretches the lead out to nine.

This has been a solid response by Kevin McStay's side after the Connacht final loss to Galway a fortnight ago.

  4. Tailteann Cup - Round 2published at 18:16 British Summer Time 18 May

    London 0-2 Down 0-3

  5. Half-timepublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-8 Derry 0-6

Galway are in control at the break as they take a two-point lead into the changing room at half-time.

Robert Finnerty top scoring for the hosts with 0-3, but the big talking point is Gareth McKinless' red card in the 22nd minute for Derry for a stamp on Damien Comer.

  6. 'That's a ridiculous score!'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-8 Derry 0-6

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on GAAGO

    That's a ridiculous score!

I don't think he [Shane McGuigan] even looked up to see where he hit that ball. But just his instinct to know where that kick was. I think the referee was probably giving him advantage there for a late tackle.

A bit of leadership, Derry haven't scored in a number of minutes and for him to stand up and do that.

    It was an incredible score.

  7. Tailteann Cup - Round 2published at 18:11 British Summer Time 18 May

    London 0-2 Down 0-2

  8. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 18 May

    Mayo 0-13 Cavan 0-6

Cormac O'Reilly - who has just been introduced - launches a ball into the air and it drops down into the square but Mayo manage to scramble clear with Luke Fortune lurking.

That could have been a huge goal for Cavan.

At the other end, Matty Ruane puts Mayo seven up.

  9. Additional timepublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-8 Derry 0-6

Derry are hanging in there as we enter the first of two added minutes in Salthill.

Galway's numerical advantage was telling in their last score as John Daly timed his run from deep to perfection to kick Galway into a three-point lead.

Shane McGuigan replied for Derry to keep the Oakleafers in touch.

  10. Conroy 'becoming more and more influential'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-7 Derry 0-5

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on GAAGO

[Paul] Conroy is getting into more space since that sending off. I think it's because [Conor] Glass is taking up that sweeper role that we're just seeing him become more and more influential.

  11. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Mayo 0-12 Cavan 0-6

Mayo are getting plenty of joy off their own kick-outs as Cillian O'Connor and Stephen Coen both split the posts to make it double scores once again.

It's difficult to see Cavan getting back into this one.

  15. Galway edge aheadpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-7 Derry 0-5

Ethan Doherty levelled for Derry but Galway have responded through Paul Conroy and Robert Finnerty.

After a bright start in front of goal, Derry have been guilty of poor shot selection and have now kicked four efforts into the hands of Galway goalkeeper Connor Gleeson.

  16. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 18 May

    Mayo 0-10 Cavan 0-6

Cavan are showing a renewed sense of hunger in the second half with Tiarnan Madden - who replaced Killian Brady in the first half - curling one over the bar.

But seconds later, Cian Madden fires wide when he should have been raising a white flag.

The Breffnimen must convert chances like that before they can think about getting something from this game.

  17. 'This has been the story of the first half'published at 18:00 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-5 Derry 0-4

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on GAAGO

This has been the story of the first half. It has been slow and laborious and a lot harder for Galway to get inside.

But they do with their patience eventually get in there.

  18. Postpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 18 May

    Mayo 0-10 Cavan 0-5

Back underway in Castlebar and Mayo immediately make it double scores through a Ryan O'Donoghue free, his fourth point of the evening.

  19. 'They're getting decimated on that long kick-out'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-5 Derry 0-4

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on GAAGO

If we're looking for what Derry's learned from the Donegal game maybe making Galway go short for a few kick-outs is the way to go.

They're actually getting decimated on that long kick-out.

  20. Red cardpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 18 May

    Galway 0-5 Derry 0-4

Derry face an uphill battle now as they will have to play the rest of the contest with 14 players.

Gareth McKinless is sent to the line for a stamp on Galway's Damien Comer. The TV replay looked fairly conclusive. McKinless fouled Comer and then clearly trod on the Galway star's ankle, who had to briefly leave the field after the incident.

Robert Finnerty converts the free and lead for the first time.
