Oscar Piastri is on provisional pole as cars head out again but the Australian's first run wasn't exactly smooth and he picked up a bit of floor damage. Zak Brown tells Sky Sports it's nothing serious and Piastri makes his way onto the circuit.

    Damon Hill
1996 world champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Silverstone

Our concerns were misplaced and we needn't worry, they knew all along, didn't they? They just weren't showing it. That is very impressive, this is very good, they're looking strong, they've looked strong in all the sessions up to now, will they be able to hold on to that position and performance into the next session? Ferrari do look good.

    Damon Hill
1996 world champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Silverstone

It just shows what happens when you get angry, Ollie, that's a fantastic performance. He kept on to that result and that's astonished me.

Williams are going to be disappointed with the performance, I don't understand why they don't have pace on this circuit.

The two penalty drivers, Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman, are through to the pole shootout. Briton Bearman actually banked the sixth-fastest time in Q2. As a reminder, Antonelli has a three-place penalty, Bearman will fall 10 places tomorrow.

Alpine's Pierre Gasly is also into the top 10. Excellent job by the Frenchman.

I think the last run was more representative, the first run was upset by the track conditions. If that's the case you have to ask where did the Ferrari and Mercedes pace gone?

  20. 'Pain and anxiousness' for Colapintopublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 5 July

    Jennie Gow
    F1 pit-lane reporter at Silverstone

It was one of those awkward conversations you have where you just feel for him [Franco Colapinto]. You can see the pain and the worry and anxiousness etched all over his face.

I asked him if he felt frustrated by that and he simply said "yes". And I asked 'have you had a chance to speak to the team?' He said "no" and that was that. He just looks like his heart is breaking. He came into this season with so much hope and then he got the seat and so much excitement around that.
