    The medical car is on the track and the driver of it is getting the biggest cheer they have probably experienced as they whizz past the stands.

    Some of the drivers are getting suited up properly once more. Feels like we are not far away from some racing now, people!

    This is yet another problem with the cars being too big. The things kick up so much spray purely by virtue of being massive, making wet weather racing impossible.

    There is a three hour rule that says that the race can last no more than two hours in terms of racing from start to finish. If the race is stopped and then resumed that time period can be no longer than three hours from the start of the race.

    In this case, the FIA has clarified that the race has not started and therefore that three hour period has not started. That three hour period will start when the race starts basically.

    Just a few minutes of rain left... hang on in there, fans! It will improve, albeit as prior noted, the lowering sun in west may conspire to make spray in any brighter spells particularly difficult *for a while*... but definitely improving.

    Alex: The problem with not starting now when conditions are less than ideal is that you run the risk of further heavy rain delaying the race further. Starting at least gives you the option of a red flag/safety car.

    The delay has been almost an hour now but credit to the fans, they are all making their own entertainment and have huge smiles on their faces.

    Matthew: I hope when the new regs come in next year, they'll sort out the spray problem. 2021 was a wake up call to improve wet weather racing.

    Improvement & cessation of rain now delayed until about 1600 local, FIA forecasters advise the teams...but it *will*, for sure, stop around or by then (based on radar)

    I understand the frustration but nobody is paid enough, F1 drivers or otherwise, to risk their lives for entertainment. We need to be patient, the race will take place eventually.

    As an ex marshal, I wholly agree with the delay. Conditions are too severe. Safety must be the primary concern for the drivers.
