Max Verstappen goes for another bite. Charles Leclerc again looks to have it covered but runs a little wide and that almost lets Verstappen in, but the Ferrari just about retains position.

The line is definitely starting to appear and the cars are sliding around a bit as they start to use the dry parts of the circuit. These intermediate tyres don't like the dry track.

Lewis Hamilton keeps on making moves as he now gets past Carlos Sainz and is into 16th.

He won't like starting right at the back, but he will enjoy these conditions and taking on lots of drivers as he then picks off Franco Colapinto. Into 15th.

I'm starting to see the lighter grey patches appearing on certain parts of the circuit, once it starts doing that it goes very quickly.

It was extraordinary the way Oscar Piastri went past Lando Norris so he was clearly having some problem with getting some acceleration out of the car using the battery pack.

It now seems like he's got on top of it now but that might explain why it seemed very easy for Piastri to get past Norris.

Max Verstappen, in fourth, is getting a bit closer to Charles Lelcerc with six tenths of a second between them.

Seven laps in, how long will these inters last before new boots are needed?

Nice move by George Russell as he dives down the inside of Alex Albon approaching the chicane and he is into fifth.

Lando Norris now has to worry about the Ferrari behind him of Charles Leclerc, he would have seen that tentativeness from Norris.

It sounds like Lando Norris has battery issues and that might offer some explanation as to why Oscar Piastri is flying off into the distance. There's a second between them already.

  19. Piastri into the lead!published at Lap 5/44

An almost immediate move by Oscar Piastri as he uses the slipstream to sweep around the outside of Lando Norris coming towards Les Combes and the championship leader leads the race!
