These soft tyres are able to go multiple laps which is quite exciting.

I prefer that for qualifying than when we see a tyre that can just do one lap and then they are boxing.

Lots of drivers touching or hitting the 'wall of champions' - it will be one to avoid for Sunday's race.

Pierre Gasly's Alpine was on a fast lap and gets into traffic, he is not very happy.

Yuki Tsunoda has only run the medium tyre so far but he's been in the garage for a while and that is thanks to a brake issue. Red Bull are starting to rebuild his car so hopefully he might get back under way.

Everyone has bolted on the C6 soft tyres - it's a new one for the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda is still in the Red Bull garage.

This is going to be an epic battle between McLaren and George Russell for who gets pole position.

Lando Norris sits at the top of the leaderboard and George Russell is just 0.151 seconds behind him. Will we see them fight for pole later?

Oh no, Ollie Bearman is on a fast lap but the rear of his car bangs into the wall of champions. Bits of debris flies off his car.

  8. 'Williams have looked strong'published at 18:17 British Summer Time 14 June

The Williams have looked quite strong this weekend in FP1 and FP2. Alex Albon has been mixing in the top five quite regularly and I expect both their cars to be threatening to get into Q3 [in qualifying].

Friday's session showed positives for the Williams team.

Their duo Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz finished in the top three in FP1 and in the top 10 in FP2.

"We have the opportunity for both cars to be in the top 10, both cars to win points and we shouldn't focus on anything less than that," boss James Vowles said in his pre-race talk on the Williams website.

Alex Albon, despite struggling with his car, is in seventh. Team-mate Carlos Sainz is up to the sixth spot.

I saw a clip of them earlier on social media having the most fun decorating pancakes.

Where is Yuki Tsunoda? Not out on track. He seemed to have had a brakes issue and the Red Bull team are hard at work in the garage. He's slipped his balaclava on, could he get in a few more laps or is practice over for him?

George Russell is only half a tenth up on Lando Norris who has actually done multiple laps now on that medium compound tyre.

The McLaren is working very nicely and I expect them to be a threat for pole position and Russell as well.

Three Brits in the top three. George Russell in P1, Lewis Hamilton in P2 and Lando Norris in P3.

Charles Leclerc is back in the Ferrari garage.

Larry Jay: According to Albon the Red Bull car is incredibly sensitive and that's how Max likes it but others can't deal that well with the set-up. If they can't get a second driver to adapt, why don't they tone it down to a point both drivers can perform under?

  15. 'Track is ramping up'published at 18:10 British Summer Time 14 June

The track is starting to ramp up and it's getting cleaner, there is less dust coming off the tyres and underneath the floor.

Isack Hadjar has a little spin in the Racing Bulls and faces the wrong way. He quickly turns the car back the right way and gets a cheer from the crowd.

He is back on his way. "Sorry about that" he says.

[On Max Verstappen being one penalty point away from a race ban] That's the interesting thing because how will the others race Max Verstappen this weekend?

They can afford to maybe lean on him a little bit more and put the car a little bit more down the inside. Max has said that he's not going to change but if he were to get the penalty point, what are Red Bull going to do?

Ollie Bearman, who is ninth, has a little touch with the wall of champion.

Lando Norris gets into a bit of traffic as he goes on a flying lap, but Fernando Alonso is in his way.

Max Verstappen has joined the pack and moves his Red Bull up to third.

Oh dear, Alex Albon has just taken his Williams on to the grass at turns eight and nine. He does not seem happy with the car.

  20. Norris using revised suspensionpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 14 June

Lando Norris has stuck with the revised front suspension McLaren have brought to Canada this weekend. The small tweak is intended to improve the feedback from the front axle for the drivers. A “numbness” from the front has been something Norris has cited this year as a characteristic that has prevented him achieving consistent performance when pushing the car to the absolute limit. Oscar Piastri, who has less of a problem with this aspect of the car, is sticking with the old design.
