Oscar Piastri's car has been worked on by the McLaren engineers. He hasn't left the car, he must be ready to go again - quick work from the papaya team.

His team-mate Lando Norris has gone second.

We are back on track now, 30 minutes to go. Charles Leclerc's Ferrari is the fastest. His team-mate Lewis Hamilton is third with Fernando Alonso between the pair.

We are yet to see Max Verstappen and Williams duo Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz out on the circuit.

The environment is not as important as the machinery that's underneath you.

You need a quick car and you need to feel comfortable in that car, but you also need to feel comfortable in that team.

Some drivers need to feel loved and some drivers it doesn't matter.

  4. What is the 'Wall of Champions'?published at 17:57 British Summer Time 14 June

The concrete wall at Turn 14 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is known as the 'wall of champions' after world champions Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve crashed into the wall at the 1999 Canadian Grand Prix.

Oscar Piastri has finally made his way to the McLaren garage. The weekend hasn't been the best for the Australian driver and this is not what he would have wanted.

The debris is being cleaned up by the marshals as the drivers return to their garages.

I've mentioned 'wall of champions' a few times already but have you wondered why it is called that?

It looks like Oscar Piastri clipped the kerb on the second apex and then the front end just bounces up in the air and pushes him wide, and then he's fighting a tighter radius on exit.

A spin for Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg at the wall of champions too. There is also a bit of damage to his car, but nothing too serious.

  8. red flag

The red flag has been waved and session has been stopped. There is debris out on track from Oscar Piastri's McLaren.

I think Oscar Piastri might have damaged the car because there is no way he would back off like that.

  10. Piastri hits 'wall of champions'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 14 June

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso missed a corner during his lap and cuts it instead. "No rear grip today" he says.

Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri has hit the wall of champions while on his lap. There's debris coming off his car and he has got himself a puncture - not ideal!

  11. 'Colapinto looks uncomfortable in Alpine'published at 17:49 British Summer Time 14 June

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I do hope Yuki Tsunoda can find a little more pace, he's been really, really off Max Verstappen's pace.

Another man who has been off the pace is Franco Colapinto. Last year everyone was singing his praises and he did a great job in that Williams car and he looked comfortable.

I can't say the same right now in the Alpine, he looks uncomfortable driving that car.

  12. Postpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 14 June

Fernando Alonso picked up his first points of the season, last time out in Spain.

He has just gone fastest in Montreal, wouldn't it be ace to see him back on the podium?

Joining him in the top three are the two Haas drivers - the team are celebrating their 200th race with a special livery.

  13. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 14 June

It is still quiet out on track. I'm sure we will soon see all drivers whizzing down the track shortly.

Franco Colapinto has been out on track, he nearly touches the wall on one of his laps. It hasn't been the best of starts for him this weekend, having spun in the first two sessions on Friday.

  14. 'There's something missing in that relationship'published at 17:42 British Summer Time 14 June

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Different people need different things from their engineers.

Ferrari trust Lewis Hamilton but it's not as vocal on the radio and I think he's missing that, some of the communications and maybe it's a difference in language, but they're getting a bit lost and I think Lewis is feeling that.

I don't think there's a lack of trust but there's something missing in that relationship and it's not quite clicking in the way he's had in the past.

Here's Charles Leclerc making his way around the circuit, he's on a fast lap, what time will he set?

    It's a 1:15.004 on the medium tyres.

A good start so far for the Monegasque who missed out on FP2 and half of the first session. He only managed nine laps on Friday

What tyres have Pirelli packed for Montreal?

It's the C4 (white, hard), C5 (yellow, medium) and the new for 2025 C6 (red, soft) available for this weekend.

Drivers get two sets of the hard tyre, three sets of the medium tyre and eight sets of the soft tyre. The green intermediates and blue full wets are also on hand if needed.

We have our first car out on track. It's home driver Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin. He needed a little push from his team to make his way down the pit lane but he has made it onto the circuit.

He will be wanting a better session than FP2, where he crashed out and could not finish the full session.

  18. 'Ferrari need a good day'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 14 June

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Ferrari need a good day today. With what Charles Leclerc did in FP2 and the lack of pace from Lewis Hamilton, the pressure is on.

  19. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 14 June

It's a quiet start to the session, drivers are yet to get into their cars. We have just seen Charles Leclerc all geared up but he watches on as the Ferrari engineers continue work on his car.

Lights are green and we are ready to go.
