    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

A positive start for Leicester with some nice link-up play between Missy Goodwin and Nicole Momiki down the left.

Nothing comes of their attack, but they're keeping hold of the ball and piling the pressure on early.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

The first half is done and dusted on Merseyside with Manchester United leading by a Grace Clinton goal in the fourth minute.

United failed to press on as Everton continue to search for a way back into the match.

  4. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

Much better from Manchester United at the end of the first half as they start to take care of the ball much better.

Ella Toone picks up the ball in a dangerous position on the edge of the box but her lofted through ball drops into the arms of Courtney Brosnan.

  5. 'Disappointed but encouraged'published at 14:51 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Dario Vidosic speaking to BBC Two: "Disappointed but also encouraged. There was some really good stuff that we have been working on and to be able to apply that against not just one of the best teams in England but in the world is encouraging.

"We knew that we would be times where we woudl have to defend but we limited their chances. We lacked a bit of structure for the goal, a little bit of positioning was wrong so that was our undoing. We know the qualities they possess and they took the chance.

"Some positive things, some things we have to learn from. Disappointed to lose but encouraged for what's ahead."

  6. 'I’m really proud of the squad today'published at 14:51 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Lauren Hemp speaking to BBC Two alongside Yui Hasegawa: "It was really tough. I thought Brighton were fantastic. We knew it wasn't going to be any easy game, I thought we dealt with it really well, defensively really solid, kept a clean sheet - what we wanted, worked hard going forward, had a lot of chances maybe on a different day we could have converted, I’m really proud of the squad today.”

On Hasegawa: “Oh yeah she's fantastic week in week out - top performances. I feel like sometimes it goes unnoticed but I think the whole of the team really appreciate it, all the hard work, yeah she's a fantastic player.”

“They've clicked really well. I think connections are still forming, we’ve got players who can come on and make a difference, I think we've got a great squad at the moment and yeah we wanna push on from here, exciting games coming up but it was important for us today to get the win and that's what we've done.”

  10. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

I've barely mentioned Ella Toone's name so far and that's because she hasn't been involved. United are struggling to gain real control of this clash so far.

  11. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

Oooo that's a missed opportunity for Manchester United!

Grace Clinton has the ball in midfield with Elisabeth Terland powering on ahead of her. The pass arrives but it's overhit.

Terland would have been through on goal with a better pass.

  12. 'We are trying to build on the legacy that Steph left'published at 14:40 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Manchester City

More from Man City captain Alex Greenwood speaking to BBC Two:

On taking on the captaincy this season: "When you lose someone like Steph [Houghton] from the dressing room it is a big personality to lose. But we have a good dressing room and we are trying to build on what she left. It is an honour to wear the armband and the legacy Steph left will be hard to replicate. I will just try my hardest to win trophies for this football club and make them proud."

On Bunny Shaw's goal: "Relieved to see that go in. We did a few of those moves in the first half and they didn't quite come off.Bunny knows how to finish those though. Right place at the right time.

On Vivianne Miedema's peformance: "It feels like she has been here forever. She just walked in and it has felt like that since the first day. That comes with experience. She voices her opinions, shares her experience and has a lot to say. That is helpful for the younger girls too. Now it is about keeping her happy and healthy."

  13. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

Pretty poor stuff from Sara Holmgaard as Everton break forward. She tries a shot from outside the box but her body shape is all wrong and it goes horribly wide.

Everton are in control but I'm not sure they can really hurt United.

  14. 'Sometimes in this league you have to win ugly'published at 14:36 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Manchester City

Man City captain Alex Greenwood speaking to BBC Two: "We got the job done. Sometimes in this league you have to win ugly. I thought off the ball today we were better. Against Arsenal we struggled with that at times but we have worked really hard on that, and I thought we saw an improvement in that today.

"This league is getting tougher and tougher ever year, and we saw that with Brighton today, it was a tough game. We take the win and the clean sheet all day. "

On struggling to get the break through in the first half: "It was difficult. We spoke about it at half time, we want to take risks in our press, and that won't change. Of course we make tweaks along the way, we aren't going to be stupid or leave ourselves vulnerable all the time. But when we get it right we can cause teams problems. Again work in progress.

"At times stepping out with the ball we could have been a bit tidier today but defensively I thought we were good with the ball. They had a lot of the ball but it didn't feel like they caused us a massive amount of problems."

  15. 'Big three points for City'published at 14:32 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC Two

I think Brighton gave a lot in that opening 45 which made it difficult for them in the second half to play with that same intensity.

They obviously made the triple substitution on the 55th minute which for me maybe a little bit too early because there was so much of an output in that first 45 they needed some fresh legs on the pitch.

Manchester City, big three points for them and Brighton have got a lot they can take from this game.

  16. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

Credit to Everton after falling behind in the opening four minutes. They've looked the better side and are probing at the United defence. Is there a goal in this game for them?

  17. 'A lot more to come from Manchester City'published at 14:29 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC Two

There is a lot more to come from Manchester City if I'm being honest.

Brighton gave them a great game, especially in the first half. City got the control back in the second half and will be disappointed with the chances that they missed.

But we are at the beginning of the season, the rhythm is building and it is a good three points to start at home.

  18. 'The three points is all that matters'published at 14:29 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

With so few games across the season in the WSL it's imperative that games such as this, Manchester City title contenders come out with three points.

Whatever that takes, whatever that looks like, the three points is all that matters.

    Green tick today.

  19. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

    Everton 0-1 Man Utd

Grace Clinton loses the ball deep in her own half and Clare Wheeler breaks down the left and whips in a low cross right into the danger zone. Unfortunately for Everton, no one was there to tap home.
