Good defending from Poppy Pattinson to stop Aoba Fujino from driving into the box, getting the tackle in as the ball trickles out for a Manchester City corner.

It's played short and comes to nothing, but City are on the attack again.

Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC Two

Brighton's strength is definitely in their attacking options. They've got Fran Kirby, Pauline Bremer and Kiko Seike as well. It will be interesting to see how they play today against Man City.

Their issue has always been defensively, leaking a lot of goals. However last year when they came here they were very compact and had a lot of players behind the ball. They need to be strong and together again today.

Kiko Seike looks like an unbelievable player I've not seen much of her before that game [against Everton] but I thought she was unbelievable.

To come so close [to the title] it did affect us. To finish second six times for this football club probably is probably not good enough. I feel like the girls have got the bit between their teeth for this season and they want to go that one step further.

This is Gareth Taylor's team, his staff and has that three year deal now to go and do it.

Kiko Seike deserves a shoutout for becoming the first player ever to score a hat-trick on their WSL debut, that is phenomenal.

For her first goal I really liked her intent and pressure, and then the audacity to lob the keeper. The second goal had great positioning for the header. Then the third goal was amazing. To take the shot on from 18 yards and put the swazz on the ball to put the ball into the near post, wow.

I’m really looking forward to seeing her this season. Already on three goals, will she maybe be up there for the Golden Boot?

    Fara Williams

We've all at the beginning of the season probably given him [Gareth Taylor] their best chance of maybe winning a WSL - six times runners up in the last eight.

Could this be their season? If we are going to go off that performance [against Arsenal], they'll see that as a point that could really be important come the end of the season.

  9. Can Seike star after perfect WSL debut?published at 12:22 British Summer Time

Man City v Brighton (12:30 BST)

Kiko Seike is one of the many Brighton players that Manchester City will have to keep an eye on today.

The Japan forward stole the show in Brighton's 4-0 win over Everton last weekend, scoring a brilliant long-range chip, a diving header and a thunderous strike to seal her hat-trick.

In doing so, she became the first player in WSL history to score a hat-trick on her debut in the competition

  10. 'We’ll see who takes the step backwards first'published at 12:20 British Summer Time

Manchester City v Brighton (12:30 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Manager Dario Vidosic on his time at Brighton so far: “It has been excellent. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time - I’m getting used to the weather, a big temperature drop in comparison to Australia but thoroughly enjoyable and really looking forward to today’s test."

On the cohesion in a short space of time: “Just from the first day we implemented how we wanna play and feed the players as much information as possible so the steps we've taken in a short amount of time has been very impressive. I've said many good things to the girls, how willing they are to learn coming in asking questions and the strides we've taken in a short amount of time, six or seven games but we know today is a great test, to see where were are at but it’s preparing to be a really good game with two attacking teams that want the ball. We’ll see who takes the step backwards first.”

On Kiko Seike: “She’s got that quality especially in the final third she has shown how dangerous she can be she proved that last week. It's about getting them and her in goalscoring opportunities where they can show their qualities and put the ball in the back of the net. Trying to get more and more people in those areas. Hopefully another big game from her and a few others as well.”

On his pre-match chat with Gareth Taylor: “I just congratulated him for the Champions League. I’ve spoken to Gareth as well from my previous ties with Melbourne City so part of CFG group it’s nice to see them especially now for England we have as many representatives in Champions League so hopefully more places in future but we both said we're looking forward to it, he said about the weather how am I finding it. He’s a great guy - really welcoming since I’ve come - and that I was looking forward to taking them on today.

“I think it’ll be nice but once we start we are both competitive, want to play but it’s a nice respect from the both of us.”

  11. 'We are looking forward to the challenge'published at 12:18 British Summer Time

Man City v Brighton (12:30 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor on the positivity he has taken from their point at the Emirates: “Just that we were really close and just like I said previously a little bit half a-meter here or there off our normal game in possession and without ball, as well the other two games we had against Paris, really on our front foot. I feel we need to be that today against a strong Brighton team who've changed things up a little bit, been impressive in pre-season, started the season well last week. On our patch, we are looking forward to the challenge.

"That’s really important for us. I like the signs I’ve seen in pre-season, certainly within the first few games.

"We are taking the game to teams and certainly when we don't have the ball, that's gonna be hopefully different this season. That was something we felt was not quite there last season amongst all the good things we did last season we just felt like at times we took our foot off the pedal a bit without the ball.

"I think that's the basis for most teams when they are aggressive. It's hard work, hard to do, we understand the intensity, the pressing we need to do. We’ve got good reinforcements from the sidelines so that's what I expect from the team."

On the link-up play between Vivianne Miedema and Bunny Shaw: “It's been good, we've seen it more in pre-season I think. Obviously last Sunday was the first time we’ve seen them together in three games so I think it's an exciting link up but certainly when you add Lauren Hemp into the left side with Viv and Bunny, I think it’s a force to be reckoned with.

"We need to give it time, look after Viv in the right way and manage her through this period. I think she's really hit the ground running so far.”

    Jen Beattie
Former Scotland defender on BBC Women's Football Weekly podcast

It was an unbelievable start from Brighton last week. That is all you can ask from a group of players, to get a really strong three points on the board. To play Man City away we all know how difficult that is.

Dario Vidosic has spoken about one game, one week at a time. This will be a different style of play, different opposition, big opponent, but his team having got off to a flyer will be massively looking forward to it.

We are currently at the top and we want to stay there, so we go there to be ambitious, we want to play our football, and I am not scared of doing that.

Manchester City are one of the best teams in the world, they have a set style of play and have been using it for quite a while now so it is a fantastic test for us that we are really looking forward to.
