They've done it! England's number four seeds Gabby Adcock and Lauren Smith need just the one opportunity to make sure, winning 21-13 17-21 21-18 in one hour and 14 minutes. That was a classic and worthy of being a medal match.
There are plenty of glum Scottish faces around the arena, none more so than the miserable expressions slapped across the chops of Imogen Bankier and Kirsty Gilmour. Even the Fratellis' feel-good anthem of Chelsea Dagger booming out cannot cheer them.

But the Scots a plucky pair, nicking two points back, before Lauren Smith smashes a winner from the front to leave England with two more match points...
Badminton
There is a real grudge match taking place at the moment. Scotland pair Imogen Bankier and Kirsty Gilmour, unsurprisingly backed by huge vocal support, face England's Gabby Adcock and Lauren Smith.
They drew one game each to take the match to a decider - and it's been a thriller. Now Adcock and Smith are two points away from a place in the last 16.

"Greg Rutherford proved his critics wrong this evening. 2013 was a rough year for him and he's come through and delivered. I think tonight he was as happy with his gold medal as he was at London 2012. He's running well, jumping well but is mentally in the right place which is the most important thing."
Adopted Scot Viorel Etko says he is the proudest man in Glasgow after delivering the host nation's first wrestling Commonwealth Games medal in 20 years with bronze in the 61kgs.
The 36-year-old was born in Moldova before leaving to pursue his athletic career first in Romania, then London in 1998, where he waited on tables and laboured on building sites before heading north of the border, eventually settling down to marry gymnast Laura Davies.
He said: "I am probably the proudest parent here, because I have my nine-year-old son Leon watching. I wanted to give him and all the other little kids a gift, all who are future Scottish athletes.
"I am fortunate to be the person who has done this. I thought I could make some history in Scottish wrestling."

The women's individual all-around final is well under way and it is a great start for Scotland's Emma White as she produces a superb beam routine for a 12.900. She leads the way after three of four rotations and laps up the applause from the crowd with a smile and a wave. But the leaderboard will all change when the second group takes to the floor at around 20:17 BST.

After all that excitement on the track, let's head back out on to the field. England's Greg Rutherford led after round three in the long jump and is still at the top of the pile, despite a no jump in round four. Team-mate Chris Tomlinson produces the longest leap in this round, although his 7.93m is 0.06m short of his best and keeps him in fifth.

A Kenyan 1-2-3 in the women's 3000m Steeplechase is a strong possibility - for the second successive Commonwealth Games. Reigning world and Commonwealth champion Milcah Chemos leads the African nation's charge.
But what are the chances of Scotland's McColgan stealing their thunder? McColgan?! No you haven't slipped into a time machine back to the 1980s. The biggest home hope is Eilish McColgan - daughter of the legendary Liz, who won the 10,000m at the 1986 Games in Edinburgh.
That race is about to start at 19:35 BST, so make sure you tune in to see if she create an historic family double.

Pre-event favourite Derek Drouin is living up to his billing. He is the only man yet to bring the bar crashing to the canvas behind him, cruising over a height of 2.25m to lead.
No such luck for Scotland's Raymond Bobrownicki though. The home crowd raise the decibel levels as Bobrownicki lumbers up, only to take the bar clean out. His Games are over.

Ding dong. We have a real battle on our hands now folks. South Africa's excitable Zarck Visser, after whipping up the Scottish fans with his dance moves, levels with Olympic champion Greg Rutherford's earlier mark of 8.12m.

Men's 1m springboard final
Jack Laugher surely has one hand on the gold medal now as he produces another stellar dive to move onto a fifth-round total of 373.10, putting him almost 50 points clear of second-place Matt Mitcham (328.35). One dive remaining for the Englishman.
Jamaica's Yona Wisdom-Knight is making history, becoming the first Caribbean athlete to dive at a Commonwealth Games. The teenager is based in Leeds and is eligible for England and Barbados through his mother, but opted to represent his father's native country last year - competing at the 2013 World Championships.
Ding ding, end of round one. England's Greg Rutherford is top of the pile after 8.12m, with Chris Tomlinson (7.95m) down in sixth.
Tomlinson stares down the track as he psyches up for his second effort. But he knows his foot is well over the red line and pulls up as he jogs into the sand. That was more long run than long jump.

That follows on from Odunayo Adekuroye's victory in women's 53kg freestyle a little earlier. The key to their success? Singing, it would seem. Both walked around the arena singing a Christian song at the top of their voices during their warm up routine and it appears to have done the trick.

Go on, admit it. You thought netball was still only played by schoolgirls wearing pleated skirts and baggy bibs, didn't you? Wrong. It is fast and furious and even though Scotland and Northern Ireland have nothing to play for, you wouldn't guess it by watching the action in the SECC.
Northern Ireland were leading 6-2 before the Scots, roared on by a vociferous, Saltire-waving crowd, level the game with four quick points. Check out the action here.
Scotland's Daniel Keatings after winning his gymnastics all around silver medal tells BBC Radio 5 live: "I was just happy to be here after the injury problems I've had. The champion-elect Max Whitlock steps up and finishes with an impeccable high bar routine. He could have tried to scale back the difficulty and play it safe with a sizeable lead. He didn't. He went out and delivered another world class performance.
The judges respond accordingly. They hand out 15.100 for a total of 90.631.
Gymnastics
Nope, not quite good enough for Nile Wilson to overtake Daniel Keatings. Wilson's routine is rewarded with a mark of 14.766. Exactly the same score as Keatings.
Gymnastics
Nile Wilson's routine is technical, tricky and, judging by his punch of the air afterwards, he thinks it is good enough for an upgrade to silver.
He needs 15.100 from the judges. Will they oblige? Or will that slight step back on dismount cost him?
Live now
Asides from gymnastics, here's what else is going on across Glasgow:
Spotless! Daniel Keatings has produced a sparkling performance on the high bar, shouting with delight as he brings it home with a rock-solid dismount.
The judges assess his efforts as worth 14.766
He was congratulated as he come back to the sidelines by England's Nile Wilson, who will now try and better it and snatch silver from the Scot. He needs 15.100 to take second.

A review is under way into comments by Athletics Australia chief Eric Hollingsworth in which he labels Olympic 100m hurdles champion Sally Pearson a "bad example" to the team.
Pearson, who begins her Commonwealth defence on Thursday, was fined for choosing to race in London this month instead of attending the team camp in Gateshead. The 27-year-old opted to compete at the Anniversary Games in the capital to gain race fitness having recently returned from a hamstring injury.
"What's lost here is she's the team captain and there's a reasonable expectation she'd be in the camp ahead of something as major as the Commonwealth Games," Hollingsworth said in a statement.
"Her no-show sets a bad example to the entire national team."
Australia's Commonwealth Games team manager Diane Gallagher, chef de mission Steve Moneghetti and Athletics Australia are meeting right now.
Boxing
No trip to the canvas for Erandi de Silva in the second or third rounds but it is still a dominant display by Nicola Adams as the judges score both in the England boxer's favour. De Silva is firmly on the back foot heading into the fourth.
Gymnastics
Scotland's Daniel Purvis lands a double-twisting dismount on the high bar, but it is not going to be enough to claw him back into the medal spots.
He gives the crowd a downbeat wave as he ends his competition with a 13.466 score for a total of 84.865. He has clocked north of 90 in the past.

England's Nile Wilson's routine is less ambitious than Dan Keatings' but it is more slickly executed.

"When the gymnasts are performing it's a bit like a cricket match: polite applause as they approach the apparatus, followed by silence and, then, slightly louder cheers, as if a cover drive has gone for four, when they dismount. That's unless you're a Scottish gymnast. The rules change if you're in blue and white. If you're Dan Keatings or Dan Purvis it's as if you've smashed 36 in one over after every twist and twirl."
Gymnastics
Scotland's Daniel Purvis is attempting to leapfrog England's Nile Wilson to move into third. He may have to rely on his performance in the high bar because a score of 14.200 on the parallel bars leaves him vulnerable to slipping further behind.
Wilson is the last man on the parallel bars.

It is not the first time that Eaton has been on the Beeb. The American told us back at the World Championships last year about the time his wife nearly speared him in the face with a javelin, accidentally I should add, and of his man-love for Daley Thompson's moustache.
He also revealed that his other half watches video of Jessica Ennis-Hill online to try and mimic her technique.

"I was provisionally selected for the European Championships but I don't think I'll make the squad now. I'm not fit enough really, it has been frustrating but I'm happy to have given it a shot and the support I have had has been fantastic, so thank you."

The first diving final, with England's Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow fourth on the start list, has been held up due to a scoreboard glitch.
Couch and Barrow are the most successful pairing in British women's diving and finished fifth at the London Olympics.
According to the experts, the destination of the medals is too close to call.
The Canadian pair of Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion are arguably the favourites and go first with each pair having five dives.
Dai Greene looks to the heavens as he crosses the line. It is in exasperation rather than thanks though.
The Welshman, undercooked in training after a run of injuries, faded badly through the final 45m, finishing fifth and more than half a second down on what he needs to make the final.

Denise Lewis
BBC Sport athletics expert & twice CWG champion
"One athlete who has definitely had has his fair share of back luck and ill fortune is Dai Greene. It is so hard to come in knowing you are searching for form and not in shape.
"He has to see and work it out as he goes. Hopefully his technique will not let him down. Having missed a backlog of training he does not have that confidence to know you can turn it on that extra little bit when you need it."
That Welsh defending champion Dai Greene's season's best is more than two seconds slower than his personal best tells its own story.
The 28-year-old has been hampered by a string of injuries. He goes in the third heat in the first round and even qualification from this is far from certain.

Badminton
They've done it! England's number four seeds Gabby Adcock and Lauren Smith need just the one opportunity to make sure, winning 21-13 17-21 21-18 in one hour and 14 minutes. That was a classic and worthy of being a medal match.
There are plenty of glum Scottish faces around the arena, none more so than the miserable expressions slapped across the chops of Imogen Bankier and Kirsty Gilmour. Even the Fratellis' feel-good anthem of Chelsea Dagger booming out cannot cheer them.
Badminton
But the Scots a plucky pair, nicking two points back, before Lauren Smith smashes a winner from the front to leave England with two more match points...
Badminton
There is a real grudge match taking place at the moment. Scotland pair Imogen Bankier and Kirsty Gilmour, unsurprisingly backed by huge vocal support, face England's Gabby Adcock and Lauren Smith.
They drew one game each to take the match to a decider - and it's been a thriller. Now Adcock and Smith are two points away from a place in the last 16.

Men's 61kg

With no contenders on the outside of him he will run his own race. It's his to lose."

I know a six minute warning is a little unorthodox, but frankly I didn't have time to give you a 10 minute warning because of that flurry of medal action.

The men's high jump did not reach the heights exepected but I can tell you that one man does not care a single jolt. That is Canada's Derek Drouin. The Commonwealth record holder has a little piece of gold to add to Olympic and world bronzes after clearing 2.31m

He could join an elite club of British athletes that hold every title in the world and that's a special achievement if he can do it. Only the likes of Sally Gunnell, Linford Christie and Daley Thompson have that. Well done Greg Rutherford."

Greg Rutherford (England) - men's long jump
Only one man now can deny Greg Rutherford the gold medal as the long jump reaches its conclusion. South Africa's Zarck Visser needs 8.20m or further - no, he's well short! Rutherford, or the Ginger Wizard as he's known, collapses to his knees on the track in celebration.
The Olympic champion is the new Commonwealth champion!
Bronze Medal
Jessica Taylor (England) - women's heptathlon 800m
Move over Ennis-Hill and Johnson-Thompson. She might not have a double-barrelled surname, but England's Jessica Taylor looks to have a bronze Commonwealth medal. Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree (England) - 3m synchro diving
Amazing scenes over in the pool as England's Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree produce something special in their final dive to snatch women's synchronised 3m springboard gold! They had not led in the previous four rounds but a 72.54 in round five puts them ahead of Canada as they finished on 300.24, just under 5.00 ahead.
Both look stunned when they climb out of the water and who can blame them? Stunning finish.

Women's heptathlon 800m
British hopes in the women's heptathlon were pinned on Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill. Then, she decided to have a baby instead (fair enough). So hopes switched to England colleague Katarina Johnson-Thompson. She had to pull out through injury.
That leaves Canada's Brianne Thiesen-Eaton as the champion elect. She basically needs to stroll around the track twice in a half-decent time to grab the gold. They're off.

Men's hammer
Someone has just turned up the noise inside Hampden - and it is nothing to do with the current action. Nope, the decibel level goes up as Scotland's kilt-wearing Mark Dry collects his bronze medal for his performance in the men's hammer throw. He's loving his moment in the limelight - winking at the camera and upper cutting the Glasgow air in delight - and rightly so.
Gymnastics
The women's individual all-around final is well under way and it is a great start for Scotland's Emma White as she produces a superb beam routine for a 12.900. "Absolutely fabulous from Daniel Keatings to win silver, the crowd were willing him on and he peaked every move, he did every move to its maximum.
"Nile Wilson is a real natural gymnast, that step backwards on his dismount from the high bar was probably the one single error we have seen from him today. He wins bronze and is happy with a medal."

Max Whitlock (England) - Men's all around gymnastics

No trip to the canvas for Erandi de Silva in the second or third rounds but it is still a dominant display by Nicola Adams as the judges score both in the England boxer's favour. De Silva is firmly on the back foot heading into the fourth.

Boxing

Michael Conlan will take on Sean McGoldrick in the 56kg semi-finals after the Welshman wins his bout against Ayabonga Sonjica of South Africa, but plenty of head scratching over how McGoldrick progressed.
It had seemed the first two rounds had been awarded to Sonjica, but McGoldrick claimed the third and was then announced the winner of the fight. Confusing scenes, but McGoldrick won't care. He is through and is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

Games are "awesome", says Bolt

Is Usain Bolt happy at Glasgow 2014? The Times newspaper claim he said he isn't and stand by their story. Bolt has hit back and was all smiles at the netball, responding with "awesome" when asked by reporters what he thought of the Games.
Here is what Jamaica's press attaché, Laurel Smith, told BBC Sport: "Usain is just frustrated that he can't roam about, but it was like that at London 2012. He basically goes to training and comes back.
"You can only play so many video games in your room. He's a free spirit, but it requires security organisation when he wants to roam.
"He even gets a bagman [an assistant] to get his food from the canteen because it would create too much of a stir if he was there. But one thing is for sure, he is enjoying himself in Glasgow."

Max Whitlock of England justifies his status as pre-event favourite as he clocks up 15.466 with a floor routine that could have been even better without a final half-stumble forward on landing.
That score is good enough to take him above Daniel Purvis as the best floor score so far.
Table tennis
Table tennis is blink-and-you-miss it quick. Stick another ping-ponger at each end of the table and you might think that you are guaranteed a few bumps and bruises as the pairs collide in their haste to get in and out of the way again.
Apparently not. The players shuffle by each other like they are on rails.

Davies: "With the 50m race I don't have to think about tactics, it's just go from the start. In Delhi in 2010 I got a bronze and was fifth or sixth in the 100m. But I was feeling so motivated after watching Jazz."
Carlin, 23, won gold in the 800m freestyle on Monday before adding silver in the 400m freestyle on Tuesday. Davies, also 23, won gold in the 50m backstroke on Tuesday to follow silver in Saturday's 100m backstroke.

Women's hockey half-time: Scotland 1 England 2
There goes the hooter.
A chance to draw breath after a frenetic first half in the decisive cross-border battle.
As it stands, Scotland still need to score twice to reach the semi-finals.
But Nikki Kidd's goal has given them a chance after England had led 2-0.
Great second half in prospect.

"Based on the world rankings England should comfortably win - they are sixth and Scotland are 16th. But as we all know, when it comes down to England v Scotland there is always something else behind it, because of all the history."

Boxing
If you read just one Commonwealth Games feature today, make it this one.
It is BBC Sport's Ben Dirs telling the tale of Taoriba Biniati of Kiribati who teamed up with gnarled veteran of the Glasgow boxing scene Alex Morrison in preparation for her Commonwealth debut.
Before last Monday Biniati had never boxed in a ring before, had never fought a women and had mainly trained by pounding away at a punchbag hanging from a breadfruit tree.
Then she walked into Morrison's gym and the hard work began.

Josh: Re: 08:00 if divers do 10m in just over one second isn't a sub-10 second 100m faster at some point?
I'm claiming that from a stationary start the divers are still quicker. And we haven't had a sub-ten seconds 100m yet at the Games.
But I take your point. It's close.
Bowls
Men's singles
Sam Tolchard, a 25-year-old electrician from Torquay, is a study in concentration as today's bowls matches get under way at Kelvingrove. The Englishman is hoping to improve on his fourth place in Delhi four years ago and is up against Australian Aron Sherriff in the singles round-robin. Tolchard leads 6-5 in the early stages, with 21 the target for both men. Watch the action here.

England draw first blood after 15 minutes thanks to a great finish from Alex Danson.
The forward wriggled free from a Nicola White pass into the 'D' to lift a shot over Amy Gibson.

England have made the brighter start and created a couple of early chances.
However, Sophie Bray couldn't take the first as she shot with the back of her stick and Amy Gibson saves with her pads to deny Alex Danson from the second.
The Scots are yet to give a passionate crowd anything to really shout about.
Swimming
Scotland swimmer Ross Murdoh has enjoyed a successful Games, but his gold in the 200m breaststroke, which he won along with bronze in the 100m, came at the expense of team-mate and Glasgow 2014 poster boy Michael Jamieson.
"Hearing the anthem on top of the podium was a massive honour for me and something I will never forget. My parents were both in tears," Murdoch told BBC One.
"Michael was OK, I've spoken to him and I think he took a few days out of swimming with his family. I'd like to say we are still friends, and I'll enjoy a little bit of time out of swimming just now as well."
Gymnastics
Beth Tweddle
London 2012 medallist and BBC Sport gymnastics expert
Reflecting on England's gold in the men's team final last night.
"Since Louis Smith made his comeback he has put in the hours at training and the whole team have been working really hard together. You could see that in the way they helped Sam Oldham onto the podium last night to collect their gold medal for the team event.
"It's hard to pick out just one performance. To win team gold, everyone needs to play their part. But Claudia Fragapane was amazing as England won the women's team gold, she had so much pressure on her but she raises her game in front of a big crowd.
"There is such strength and depth within the British team. Split off into the home nations we have also had the historic Scottish silver medal in the men's team event and the Welsh girls picking up women's team bronze. All these athletes will come back stronger and I wouldn't like to be one of the selectors."

Here we go.
We've had push-back at the National Hockey Centre so it's game on as Scotland and England scrap it out for a place in the semi-finals.
Remember, a draw will do for England while Scotland must win to join Australia in going through in Pool B.
Dame Kelly Holmes is in place to support England, former First Minister Jack McConnell has his Scotland colours on, backing the hosts.

And a badminton official gets hit in the face by the shuttlecock. Classic.
Swimming
Scotland's swimmer Dan Wallace - who added silver in the 200m individual medley last night to his gold in the 400m version- revved up the crowd by appearing poolside in his team kilt. He thinks that the home nations' performance bode well for an improvement in Great Britain's next Olympic showing.
"It's not just Scotland; England, Northern Ireland and Wales have had a great Commonwealth Games so far," Wallace told BBC One.
"In two years' time when it comes to trying out for Rio it won't just be about making the team.
"We will expect to perform really well and try and get on the podium.
"I think that's something we will be capable of and hopefully this has given us a taste of that."

09:00 - Women's Pool B: Scotland v England
Scotland coach Gordon Shepherd is certainly not overawed by the prospect of his side taking on England, despite being ranked 10 places lower at 16 in the world.
"We knew when the draw was made that we would set up a winner takes all," Shepherd told The Telegraph.
"That has been the mind set of the players and this has worked out exactly as I thought it would. It will be a fantastic day and there is no doubt in my mind and my players' mind [that we will win].
"We will be up from half past five and from the moment they wake up they will be thinking about their performance against England."

Just as the diving begins, England and Scotland's women will be locking hockey sticks over at the National Hockey Centre with a place in the semi-finals the prize.
While the local crowds have generally been generous with their applause for all of the home nations' competitors, the trend was bucked when England met Scotland in the rugby sevens at Ibrox.
It could get a bit partisan over at the National Hockey Centre.
Diving
Just as in swimming lessons at school so at major multi-sport events.
Once you have done your lengths, you are allowed to have a couple of goes off the high board.
So with the swimming events wrapped up last night, we begin the diving competitions at the Royal Commonwealth Pool this morning.
Splashdown in the first event - the men's springboard - is in two hour's time.

Who is the fastest Commonwealth athlete over 10m?
Jamaica's living legend Usain Bolt picking up the baton on his relay? Compatriot Kemar Bailey-Cole powering to 100m gold? Champion Nicol David lunging to a retrieve a drop-shot at the front of the squash court?
Nope, none of the above.
Instead the likes of England Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow, admittedly with a lot of help from gravity, cover the distance in a little over one second.
Flipping, twisting and piking in near-perfect symmetry all the way to the watery finishline.
