What's that noise? It's the sound of the gold medal klaxon getting a good honking.

England's David Luckman claims his second gold medal of Glasgow 2014 in the full-bore Queen's Prize individual event.

The 38-year-old won England's first shooting gold of the Games on Saturday with Parag Patel in the pairs. Patel has followed that up with bronze in the individual event with Canada's Jim Paton splitting the two Englishmen.

Andrew Osagie's Commonwealth dream is over. The English athlete was disqualified in the men's 800m heats after colliding with Wales' Joe Thomas while they were both scrapping for third place. Team England appealed against the decision, with Osagie claiming the clash was all the fault of Thomas, who stuttered over the line to nick the final qualifying place.

Now world indoor bronze medallist Osagie has said on Twitter that he has been told by Games officials that the decision will stand.

"Unbelievable actions to get someone punished despite them not starting the whole thing. Unbelievable decision to allow things to stand," he moaned., external

Jamieson was tipped to win the men's 200m breaststroke, but finished second.

And just for good measure, the Kiwis make it a one-two in a dramatic finish as Samuel Gaze, 18, crosses the line in second.

Australian Daniel McConnell can't live with the late sprint as he takes the bronze.

Bad news for England's much-fancied Natasha Jonas, a split decision goes in favour of Australia's Shelley Watts.

It was a terrific bout. The pair clubbed each other for four two-minute rounds, then grinned and embraced at the final bell.

Jonas - who had the misfortune to come up against Ireland's brilliant Katie Taylor in her opening bout at the London 2012 Olympics - won the first round but Watts came back strongly and will feel she deserved victory.

England's Joe Joyce beat Scotland's Ross Henderson in a bruising quarter-final encounter earlier today. Both boxers have been speaking to BBC One.

"It's our third fight and Ross is a great opponent," Joyce says. "It was a great fight. Practice makes perfect and I landed on the night. I'm just enjoying the crowd and all the support."

Henderson graciously pays tribute to his conqueror. "Joe's a hard puncher and I know he was going to come out hard," he says. "Joe's number four in the world for a reason and it's not because he's a big slow dumpling - he's a world-class puncher. I just hope the big man goes on and wins it now."

"Magnificent queues as people arrive at the SECC for an afternoon/evening of sport. Biggest line of the day is for the gymnastics, although weightlifting is a close second. "It has the wow factor, doesn't it?" says a mum to her daughter as they catch their first glimpse of the gymnastics arena."

Christopher Dent via text on 81111: I think there should be a weighted system of 'medal points' based roughly on collective human effort. So nine medal points say for large team (e.g. hockey) gold, six for doubles/quartet team gold, three for individual gold. Then 6-4-2 pattern for silver, 3-2-1 pattern for bronze. It seems unfair that a gold earned by a single swimmer after a couple minutes combined effort is afforded the same reward as hundred of combined hours put in by a hockey team!

Nothing like keeping it simple then, Christopher

One lap to go and four riders within as many bike lengths.

A brave fightback from Max Plaxton may yet be rewarded with a medal as the Canadian looked to be struggling with a back problem as he briefly slipped off the pace on lap six.

Australian Daniel O'Connell is trying to turn up the heat from the front. Scotland's Grant Ferguson is up to fifth, one place ahead of England's of 2006 Commonwealth champion Liam Killeen.

Some of the strugglers are being lapped.

As sure as night follows day you can bet your bottom dollar that you will spot someone dressed as a daffodil when a Welsh athlete is taking centre stage. Yes, there's one in Hampden as the Welsh contingent cheer on Ben Gregory. He can't clear 5.10m but does enough to win the pole vault and climb up to sixth overall.

That's the athletics wrapped up for a short while, until the men's decathlon returns with the javelin at 18:30 BST. Time for a quick nap and some energy-packed pasta before then. That's the athletes, not you...

Northern Ireland boxer Ruairi Dalton, who lost to Australia's Andrew Moloney, speaking on BBC One: "It was a bit of a slow start. No doubt I came off second best - I take my hat off to him. I came here and gave it 100%, and that's all I can do. This is an experience I'll remember until the day I die."

So, just to confirm the semi-final line up.

England's Joe Joyce, so impressive in his three-round destruction of Scotland's Ross Henderson, will be up against Mike Sekabembe, a Ugandan soldier who looked - and I believe this is the technical term - hard-as-nails in beating Ghana's Haruna Osumanu. That's at 15:00 BST on Friday.

In the other semi, Australia's Joseph Goodall faces Nigeria's Efe Ajagba.

All these chaps are guaranteed a medal, the question is which colour?

Meanwhile, Ben Gregory's smile is wider than the River Clyde as he sails over the 5.00m bar. He gives it a finger wag in celebration and is now the only athlete in the middle of Hampden Park. Those hardy souls who are still watching, give him some raucous support. He's loving being the centre of attention.

England's John Lane rushes through his final attempt in the pole vault, but cannot clear 5.00m. He is still in the silver medal position though with two events to come - javelin and 1500m. They're not his strongest events, so he faces an anxious wait to see if he's opened up a decent enough gap.
