Women's 400m individual medley bronze medallist Katie Shanahan has just stopped off to pick up a Saltire after her medal ceremony and the Scottish contingent in the crowd are loving it.

The build-up to the Commonwealth Games has been far from the norm for three-time Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty.

A broken foot - the first major injury of his career - saw him ruled out of the World Championships in Budapest last month, before which his coach Mel Marshall said it was "pretty tight" as to whether Peaty would make the Games.

The 27-year-old is aiming to defend his 100m breaststroke Commonwealth title for a second time, as well as looking to turn his 50m silver from 2018 into gold. He's not in the pool tonight, mind.

Peaty first made his name at the Glasgow Commonwealths in 2014, winning two gold medals for England. He's since gone on to win 16 European titles and eight world titles, in addition to those Olympic golds.

Scotland's Katie Shanahan produced a stunning 400m individual medley performance to earn herself a bronze medal. Here's what she had to say to BBC Sport:

"Literally, I could cry right now, I’m so happy. This season has not been the season I wanted it to be. Never in my wildest dreams, in my first Commonwealth Games, did I think I was going to get a medal. I'm so happy."

Hall, 29, won two golds at the London Paralympics so has fond memories of competing in the UK. Can he hold on to his title?

How is Daniel Wiffen feeling now? Agonisingly close to a medal, but he must be delighted with his day's work. Twice broken the Irish record in a day, and looking in brilliant shape with his favoured 1,500m to come next week.

England are on a march up the standings after some superb scores on the vault. Giarnni Regini-Moran top scores with 14.900 with Jake Jarman getting a 14.750 and James Hall scores 14.350.

That's an overall score of 44.000 on vault and England have got the highest score on every apparatus so far.

Their overall score after four rotations is 169.300 and they are into the podium places.

Scotland's Katie Shanahan after her 400m IM bronze: "I can't believe it. I'm so, so happy and I literally don't know what to say. I just wanted to attack it from the start. I knew if I didn't I wouldn't have a chance of a medal and it hurt so much in the last 50m.

"I could feel all the girls coming up behind me but I could see the crowd cheering me on and I was thinking about nothing else but getting a hand on the wall."

A lovely moment for Katie Shanahan, the Scottish swimmer clearly absolutely delighted with her bronze medal in her post-race interview. Superb!

Scotland are up into third overall after a great showing on the parallel bars.

Pavel Karnejenko leads the way with 13.800 while Hamish Carter scores 13.600 and Frank Baines 13.350 for 40.750 overall on the aparatus.

Scotland have an overall score of 161.550 with two rotations remaining.

I’ll tell you what, Ariarne Titmus was worried. She really was. She didn’t hit the finish right on the stroke and looked around so quickly afterwards.

A Commonwealth Games record of 1:53.89 for Ariarne Titmus as she edges out Mollie O'Callaghan and Madison Wilson.

Freya Anderson was fourth for England after a strong swim.

Many expected a flood of goals for England against newcomers Ghana, but it hasn't materialised yet.

England have dominated possession but only have Nick Bandurak's early strike to show for it.

Ghana are making their first appearance at the Commonwealth Games, taking their place after Malaysia withdrew to focus on the Asian Games.

So far they have shown lots of organisation and resilience, with goalkeeper Duisberg Offei pulling off a string of superb saves.
