Great performance from both teams playing up to their level. Australia were really pushed in that first set as the Scottish girls played at the top of their game roared on by this crowd. They should be proud.

But another one down for Australia - two more to go.

Match point for Australia and the crowd are instructed to clap, clap, clap to House of Pain's Jump Around.

Scotland save a point to hang on in there but unfortunately for Lynne Beattie and Melissa Coutts, the Australian pair have too much in the beach locker.

Great effort by the Scottish duo.

Defending champions England will face 2018 runners-up Australia in Saturday's Commonwealth netball semi-final after they beat New Zealand yesterday.

It's not one to be missed. That match starts at 14:30 BST tomorrow.

Australia's Taliqua Clancy & Mariafe Artacho del Solar hold a an eight-point buffer in the second set and the defensive prowess of Clancy stops another Scotland attack.

Us Scots aren't built for sun this strong but Lynn Beattie and Mel Coutts are digging in here. Australia are a set up and have edged ahead in the second but the underdogs are having a right good go a it.

Actually, hold on, a few drops of rain are now starting to fall. That's more like it...

Scotland's George Miller, who is 75, has just taken the crown of oldest gold medallist from compatriot Rosemary Lenton.

Miller is a director for visually impaired bowler Melanie Inness who, along with Robert Barr and his director Sarah Jane Ewing, beat Wales to gold.

"I think Rosemary's quite pleased," Miller told BBC Sport.

"It's great, fantastic. A year ago I never dreamed of being here. I got a phone call, and nearly fell off my chair to be honest. Here we are - where are we going to go from here?!

"It's all there to be tried. Everyone can try any sport at all. Bowls is easier for older people - but any sport. Walking football, rugby, you name it. Get out there and exercise, play games, compete. It's brilliant whatever age you are."

Melanie Innes: "It's incredible, I never believed it could possibly happen. But we worked really hard and managed somehow to win all our games."

In case you missed it, George Miller, 75, became the oldest Commonwealth Games gold medallist in history as Scotland defeated Wales in the final of the B2/B3 mixed pairs bowls earlier.

It's the first time the nation has won gold in the event.

Pretty sure Australia will be happy with their start in this quarter-final. Scotland really gave it to them in the first part of the first set, they really had them running around. A few unforced errors had them behind but very quickly they settled into their own game and danced their way to that first set.

Scotland duo Eleanor O’Donnell and Christopher Grimley have just lost their last 16 tie to Singapore pair Terry Hee and Jessica Tan 2-0.

Meanwhile, Jessica Pugh and Callum Hemming of England have taken the first game against Katherine Wynter and Joel Angus of Jamaica 21-11.

The first set is all over and after a sluggish start, Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar clinch it for Australia, 21-11.

In the wrestling, England's Kelsey Barnes has just lost to India’s Sakshi Malik in the women's 62kg last 16.

Syerus Eslami of England has also fallen short in the men's 86kg quarter-finals to South Africa's Edward Lessing.

Can the hosts' Sarah Clossick spark some joy for the home fans in her women's 68kg quarter-final match with New Zealand's Tayla Ford? That tie has just got under way.

Scotland are the underdogs in this match but Lynne Beattie and Melissa Coutts have gone through the gears much quicker than Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar.

But the Australian pair, who won silver at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and are ranked number two in the competition, are now beginning to find their groove and a successive haul of points has now seen them take a 20-11 lead.

Time for a break and some fun with rakes.

The early session at the table tennis is finito.

England's Liam Pitchford, who won three medals on the Gold Coast, Paul Drinkhall and Sam Walker all won their men's singles round of 32 matches to progress to the last 16.

The afternoon session will resume at 16:00 BST and will feature Pitchford alongside mixed doubles partner Tin Tin Ho in quarter-final action as well as Charlotte Bardsley and Tom Jarvis in the same event. Plus many more.

England's Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters take on Scotland's Georgia Adderley & Lisa Aitken in the squash women’s doubles quarter-finals later today.

The English pair won silver at the 2022 World Championships, where the Scottish pair finished fifth.

Scotland duo Eleanor O’Donnell and Christopher Grimley are struggling against Singapore pair Terry Hee and Jessica Tan.

In their last 16 mixed doubles match they've lost the first game 21-15 and are down in the second 7-5.

Meanwhile, Jessica Pugh and Callum Hemming of England have just started their last 16 tie against Katherine Wynter and Joel Angus of Jamaica.

At the NEC the next netball classification match is underway and it's between Wales and Malawi, who are playing for seventh place.

Wales have taken an early lead in the opening quarter and this could be really interesting. They have improved significantly in recent years and sit eighth in the world rankings, below Malawi in seventh. A victory here would be huge evidence of that improvement.
