It's 80% job done for Mia Vallee of Canada.

Her lowest-tariff dive of the night scores 54.05 and Brittany O'Brien of Australia has closed the gap a touch, she's now 10 points behind with one dive left.

Amy Rollinson scores a whacking 61.50 on her hardest dive of the night and is up to fourth. She's given herself a chance!

The weather has been suspiciously good for the Commonwealth Games so far but it's taken a bit of a turn today.

Thankfully no rain at the hockey yet, but with the sun behind a cloud the temperature is dropping a bit. Hope everybody brought a coat...

Could England's golden hour at the bowls rink be about to get even better?

The men's four pick up a single to take a 12-10 lead over India into the final end of their semi-final.

Celebrations all round. To be fair both teams played exceptionally well but England got away from them.

That is just incredible to do it on home ground as well - the feelings they must be experiencing at the moment.

    England win 17-9

    England have done it!

Malaysia can't match the run Sian Honnor, Jamie-Lea Winch and Natalie Chestney put together in those final ends and the host nation take the gold medal by 17 shots to nine.

Elation for the England trio. Big hugs all round in front of the home crowd.

Six-time outdoor British champion Naomi Metzger is hoping to win a medal for England in the women's triple jump

In about 20 minutes or so, the athletics will be up and running again (geddit?). Let's have a gander at what's happening.

Five medal events are taking place in Alexander Stadium tonight, with plenty of home nations prospects.

Here are the medals on the menu...

    19:06 BST: Men's shot put

    19:55: Men's T53/54 1500m

    20:35: Women's triple jump

    21:27: Men's decathlon 1500m

Malaysia picked the wrong time to go exploring. They've gone walkabout while England have kept their concentration.

Azlina Arshad goes for the money shot to drag Malaysia back into this final but the 20-year-old's effort falls short as the England side watching on.

Arshad is winding up to go again. If she doesn't make this, the gold medal is England's...

    Women's 1m springboard final

    Katie Falkingham

Mia Vallee of Canada looks to have one hand on the Commonwealth gold medal after three of five dives. She's opened up a decent gap on the rest of the field.

She's 21 and won bronze in this event on her World Championship debut in late June. Looks like a maiden Commonwealth medal is heading her way too.

  10. hockey

And that late England chance is the last opportunity of note in the first half.

Like Becky says, it's all a bit stop-start.

The momentum is with England now and Jamie-Lea Winch takes the plaudits for a couple of stellar efforts.

Malaysia have lost a little bit of concentration and are struggling to find a way out of this seven-point deficit.

The groan of despair when the ball slid across the goal then was the loudest I've heard the hockey crowd all night.

After a bit of a stop-start second quarter, we needed a chance to spice things up.

    So close!

A great chance for England as Laura Unsworth rolls the ball into Sophie Hamilton, but the midfielder's pass across the face of goal isn't turned over the line.

    Inches in it.

After three of the five dives it's looking good for world bronze medallist Mia Vallee of Canada.

Another fine dive, a reverse 2.5 tuck somersault, sees her top the standings on 179.30! She has a near 19-point cushion over Brittany O'Brien of Australia.

Defending champ Grace Reid of Scotland is back in the medal mix after a fine dive and has 155.65 points to lie fifth.

England's Amy Rollinson scores 6.5s with her effort and has 152.00 points.

    Men's fours semi-finals

India are proving a stern opponent, responding with a single to cut England's lead to 11-10 going into the 14th and penultimate end.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland have also cut Wales' advantage to 9-8 after 10 ends.

These men's fours semi-finals are both too close to call.

Well... but for a blade of grass or less, that Malaysian ball would have gone in.

They have cut that score down, which gives them a chance but they need to score here, or it is handshake time.

England 16-9 Malaysia, after end 16.

End 16 is done and dusted and skip Azlina Arshad claims a point back for Malaysia as we near the conclusion of this gold medal tie.

The Malaysian trio need to win this next end or it is goodnight Vienna.

End 17 gets the green light. England lead 16-9.

Five gold medals on offer at Alexander Stadium tonight and a chance to see Elaine Thompson-Herah in full flow in the 200m semi-finals.

There's also another chance to see Perry the Bull strutting his stuff.

The official mascot a bit of a show-off but it's very much in the job description.

    Here he is arriving...

It's a match of transfers now as both sides are happy to play keep-ball amongst their defenders; shifting the play from left to right and waiting for an opening.

This second quarter is tactical and niggly. Nothing like the first at all.
