    Men's 200m semi-final

Here's Adam Gemili! The Englishman has had a difficult year on and off the track, but will be hoping to finish with a flourish.

A quick start leaves him third and looking good going into the straight, only for the energy to sap from his legs in the final 50m.

Gemili is caught by Trinidad and Tobago's Dwight St Hillaire on the line and finishes fourth.

    Men's shot put final

Solid start for England's Scott Lincoln, who is greeted with a roar by the home crowd like Ozzy Osbourne would have got at Birmingham City Hall back in the day.

Bronze medallist Amy Rollinson talking to BBC Sport's Kat Downes: "I have never bothered looking at everyone else and seeing what they are doing, just because I like to focus on myself and let everyone else do what they're going to do."

On leading, then slipping out of the medals before securing bronze:

"Even when I look at the scoreboard, I look at the dive that I am going to do and ignore everything else."

On her experience of competing at first major event:

"I was just expecting to turn up and have a bit of experience in an individual event, because I have only ever done two proper internationals, let alone an individual senior event. So to get this is crazy.

"It's been hard the past few weeks trying to train and deal with everything so it's just nice to come away with something.

"I genuinely think the crowd helped. Just standing on the board it's so nice to hear so many people cheering for you, trying to get you to do well."

Does this give you more belief?

"It's just nice to get along with everybody, all the seniors, to compete against those who have been to multiple majors before."

As Katie says, if you've never had the chance to see diving live the height of the 10m platform is truly something to behold.

It's nearly two giraffes high, or two thirds of the Hollywood sign. And then the divers have to do 4.5 somersaults off the top, in time with their partner...

On the track, the men's 200m is under way.

England's Zharnel Hughes is out of the traps like a greyhound in the first of three semi-final, racing round the bend as he streaks round the bend.

Hughes eases off as he cruises towards the line, looking left and looking right.

A broad grin breaks out as he crosses in 20.32 seconds.

Impressive stuff - and he was only in fourth gear.

New Zealand's reigning Commonwealth champion Tom Walsh is the favourite to win gold in the evening's first medal event.

Walsh, who came fourth behind three Americans at the recent World Championships, is the third of the 12-man field to throw.

Walsh's team-mate Jacko Gill, who is the ninth to throw, and 2018 silver medallist Chukwuebuka Enekwechi of Nigeria (4th to throw) seem best equipped to cause an upset.

England's only entrant is Yorkshire bricklayer Scott Lincoln, who might find it hard to cement a spot on the podium.

If the 28-year-old can grab a medal, his place in Commonwealth will be set in stone.

    Men's synchro 10m platform final

    Katie Falkingham
BBC Sport at Sandwell Aquatics Centre

It's the men's synchro 10m platform final coming up next, all the way up on the top board.

Diving from any height is impressive, but it's something else from 10m. I've been watching the divers warm up and the THWACK as they hit the water, no matter how perfectly pitched the dive is, reminds you of the height they're dropping from.

Higher chairs have been wheeled in for the judges. Think I'd feel a tad shaky sat on one of those, never mind 10m up.

Women's hockey: England 0-0 New Zealand

    Becky Grey
BBC Sport at the University of Birmingham

It's all getting a bit tense at the hockey.

If it carries on like this, we'll have a shoot-out. New Zealand beat England in a shoot-out on their way to winning gold in 2018. Eek.

  20. hockey

    Hockeypublished at 45 mins

Women's hockey: England 0-0 New Zealand

And that's the third quarter done.

If the scores are level at the end of this semi-final, a shoot-out will decide the winner.

Five players per team each have eight seconds to score against the opposition goalkeeper after starting on the 23m line with the ball.

If the teams are still tied after the series of five shoot-outs, the competition becomes sudden death.
