  4. 'Just didn't have enough speed' - Norrispublished at 11:55 29 June

McLaren's Lando Norris, who finished third: "A good race between us especially with Max at the beginning was good fun.

"Probably some things I should have done better but i understand that but the pace of the car was very strong, especially at the end of the race and I had a good battle trying to get past Oscar but just didn't have enough speed.

"I don't think we had the pace to go for Max, he was too quick for us today."

  5. Really good haul of points - Piastripublished at 11:52 29 June

McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who finished second: "I finished one spot higher than I started but didn't quite have the pace in the second part of the lap. Thought Max and Lando were going to pave the way for me to come through at one point but not quite!

"Some things to look out for this afternoon for tomorrow's race but we'll definitely take the points - it's a really good haul compared to the other teams around us.

"I could see [Verstappen and Norris] battling quite hard, the move was quite late and I knew there would be an opportunity on the exit. I was hoping I'd get both but just bided my time and tried my best."

  6. 'We had to work for it' - Verstappenpublished at 11:49 29 June

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who won his 10th career sprint race: "It was a good first lap but once the DRS opens it is very hard to get out of it, took a few laps. Few exciting battles as well but once we cleared the DRS I could do my own race. We have two cars pushing flat out making things difficult for me.

"We had to work for it. A few things to think about what we can do better for tomorrow especially, like longer races, harder on the tyres and we’ll have to see how that can evolve."

On the clipping – Is that a weak spot? "It’s just because they are in the DRS because they spend less time on the straight catching up to me.

"Once we were out then I could back to my normal management and everything was fine again."

Who else will you be looking at in the rear view mirror? "I have to look at the whole race.

"I was very busy with myself I have to look at the data of the others was well and see if we can do better as well."

The fact that Lando is so disappointed with third is a measure of where he is right now.

He wants a championship. He’s not content with a podium in a more.

  16. 'Bit early in the season for team orders'published at 11:29 29 June

    Jennie Gow
    F1 pit-lane reporter

It is a bit early in the season (for McLaren) to be imposing team orders at this stage in a sprint race.

That might do more harm than good in taking away from Piastri than celebrating the team’s performance, and embracing him.

  20. 'Calm before the storm'published at 11:25 29 June

    Marc Priestley
Former F1 mechanic on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

In a sprint race scenario you are going to go for your first five, six, seven laps which are the opportunity to make those overtakes when everyone is bunched up and then you get this phase where everyone settles down a bit and gets temperatures under control, maybe start to think about long after tyres and then towards the end, maybe think of performance off-set to utilise to have another go.

This is the calm before the storm.
