"Six off an over at this stage, you've got to be happy with that as a bowler. There's a lot of pressure coming on to bowl at this point in the innings with batsmen looking to go big on every occasion."

  2. Pak 309-4published at 04:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Misbah is closing towards the 72 mark (which will being up 5,000 ODI runs) - a careful single keeps the strike and means he has 62 from 46 balls. Umar has 19 from 12, and from the UAE's perspective, six singles from the over isn't too bad.

  3. Dropped catchpublished at 04:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

The UAE are going to have to find someone to send down these last three overs, and they go back to Javed who was erratic earlier. After an exchange of singles, Umar Akmal chips the ball towards mid-wicket and is dropped by Shaiman Anwar running in from the boundary.

"It's a tough time to bowl, especially if you haven't got the pace a lot of bowlers in the world have. You've really got to get your lengths right at this stage."

  5. Pak 302-4 (Misbah 59, U Akmal 16)published at 04:29 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Misbah helps himself to two more to bring up the fifty stand in 25 balls, and Naveed - whose first eight overs only cost 24 - has more than doubled that in his last two, finishing with 1-50 from his 10.

Stick O'Rhubard: Misbah turning on the style here. Could be a cricket score for Pakistan.

  7. Pak 299-4published at 04:27 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Naveed lifts his arms in frustration at some tumbling fielding by Karate at third man as Umar helps himself to a two, then the Pakistan keeper goes for the big heave-ho over cow corner and is brilliantly caught one-handed.... by a gentleman in a bright yellow turban just beyond the boundary. Naveed has rather lost it here in his last over, a stomach-high full toss is called as a no-ball for height but Misbah still hooks it for four.

"I don't think there's going to be too many issues for Pakistan in this game. They've got themselves in to a position where they should not lose. There's always going to be pressure on you as a side, but I think they can really enjoy themselves from here on in."

  9. Misbah-ul-Haq 50published at 04:24 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Misbah is sweeping Mustafa with ease, either in orthodox or reverse mode, as Mustafa keeps spinning it down to leg stump, and the 40-year-old Pakistan skipper reaches his 41st ODI fifty from 39 balls with a reverse-swept single.

"It's amazing the power batsmen manage to get with reverse sweeps. I know they're using the pace of the ball, but the power in the wrists to change direction is quite impressive."

Well, Guruge won't complete his spell here as Mustafa gets another over, and Misbah fluently reverse-sweeps him for four. When he sets up to attempt the same shot, Mustafa fires it down the leg side, the keeper misses it and it disappears for five wides. Oh dear.

"The floodlights here are good. They've got the standard four in the corners for the rugby. Huge, metallic structures like you used to see at football grounds in England in the 70s and 80s."

  13. Pak 268-4 (Naveed 9-0-31-1)published at 04:20 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Having scampered a leg bye on that lbw appeal, Misbah nicks the strike - why not, he's the captain after all - with a single to move to 41 from 33 balls.

  15. Not outpublished at 04:18 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Did that hit him on the full in front of leg stump? Out? No - the ball-tracker shows it missing leg stump by a whisker, and Umar survives to fight another day.

  16. Umpire reviewpublished at 04:17 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

The UAE turn back to paceman Mohammad Naveed, with three men back on the leg-side fence which Misbah has been aiming at. Naveed has two overs left, he keeps it nice and tight until he strays with his length and Umar whips it for four to that perilously close square-leg boundary by the dressing rooms. Next ball, he's hit on the pad attempting a similar shot and the UAE call for a review...

"Good shot there from Misbah, dealt with the ball beautifully. He's getting in to his stride now playing some good shots and 260 now looks like it could easily be turned into 320."

  19. Pak 260-4 (Misbah 39, U Akmal 2)published at 04:14 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Pakistan's fans at McLean Park might be hoping for a bit of "Boom Boom" - but Pakistan resist the temptation to promote Shahid Afridi, whose batting seems to have regressed just as his bowling has improved, and turn to Umar Akmal. Whatever you feel about Umar's wicketkeeping skills, he's a capable hitter in this situation. Mustafa, having taken that catch, gets to bowl his first over of the innings, a rapid over of fairly rapid off-spin, and after five singles, Misbah expertly sweeps him for four.

"Poor old Mustafa almost had a heart attack there. That ball was flying towards him, threatening his throat. He manages to bat it about a couple of times and juggle it before taking a catch at cover."
